gaming Occulus Rift In Trouble

So a lot of people may know that Occulus Rift is the next big thing in gaming in terms of VR. While it shares competition with the HTC Vive and even the Playstation VR, there is no doubt that the Rift made some noise when it was announced and more noise when Facebook purchased the entire project. Many were skeptical if a company that has no real face in the gaming industry could even deliver the technology to the level of expectations.

Well many people who pre-ordered the device were supposed to receive it early, well many of said pre-orders have been delayed and apparently many of them will not be fulfilled until after the retail release of the device. This basically means that early adopters will be getting the device after people who invested nothing into it. This is a huge set back in terms of Facebook's relationship with its consumers and definitely has already soured a lot of people's initial "we'll give you a chance" mentality towards the social media giant. Could this be an indicator that Facebook clearly just aren't fit to handle this kind of operation?

I know one thing: it's definitely going to get the HTC Vive and the Playstation VR a lot more support.

I don't understand. If the company didn't have enough units to fulfill their pre-orders alone, then why didn't they delay the launch to manufacture more?

Amoral cynic with a bitchin' vocabulary.

Check out A Century of Song if you like music from before this millennium.

Who knows.

Facebook isn't exactly very understanding of how to not piss people off.

I'm amazed yet not that Facebook managed to screw this up. I mean, when people were afraid of this buyout, you'd expect Facebook to do everything they can to quell people's fears, but a move like this just reinstate them instead

I have to wonder if this will help or hinder the future prospects of the VR medium. I mean out of all of the various devices out there or to come it seems like the ones with the biggest awareness among potential customers were Rift and Playstation VR, and if one of those two are doing this badly with PR, would that affect others like HTC and PS-VR?

Honestly what little faith I had in the Oculus Rift has pretty much been completely dashed when stuff like Playstation VR and Vive started showing up. Both look like they offer much better experiences that are much more what I expect VR to be like. The Oculus is just putting the game in your face where the Vive takes advantage of your entire body's movement and placement.

There's a game out there where you work on cars and you have an entire workspace you go around in. You aren't just turning your head or having to use a gamepad to move around.

The Oculus is being left behind already by the competition.

I think it would more or less draw people to those ones instead.
