Could Spike be related to one of Tirek's past minions?

In G1 Midnight Castle, hard to believe but G1 Spike was once Tirek's minions who betrays him alongside Scorpan. Could Spike be a descendant of that Spike?

Oh wow. O_O Did not know this at all. Our Spike could very well be a descendant, but that would be a pretty dark family past to speak of. Tirek is a bit of a bad guy.

The G1 Spike seems more like a slave/unwitting minion to me and I highly doubt he was involved with Tirek's overthrow of Scorpan who for the record was a prince who was cursed to become a monster in the G1 cartoon. Tirek did threaten to decapitate Spike so it is very likely that Spike may have been servant of Scorpans before he was cursed and he may have persuaded Tirek to spare him in exchange for using him as an errand boy of sorts. Considering how the mane 6 were all based on G1 ponies the same argument could be made for the mane 6 being possible decedents of those ponies.

I highly doubt that any of the characters in G4 are related to any of the characters from G1.

You know, I have this theory that Lord Tie-rek and Scorpan might be returning for the movie (not confirmed, it's a theory), so perhaps it'll give Spike more of a part in the movie if Spike somehow got separated from the group because of an argument or something, and then he joins Tirek as his minion (not intentionally, of course), to try to stop the Mane Six from achieving their goal. :3

Most definitely.

 

Spike in the show started off as fellow prisoner/servant of Tirek. He was a great help to the Dream Valley ponies in their adventures. For whatever reason, Prince Scorpan left him with the ponies.

 

His toyline featured him with five or six other dragons, (Europe only) as attendants to the first six Princess Ponies. (US got Bushwoolie attendants instead.) He himself was the attendant of a pony queen named Majesty and came with the Dream Castle set.

 

I know next to nothing about UK G1 comic book Spike or G3 Spike.

 

So hopefully someone else can fill you in.

All I'm going to say here is G1, G2, G3, and G4 are there own universe of evolution. It's like, they don't relate to each other directly, it's merely evolution, not story tying.

 

With that said, no. But hay, that's just my opinion.
