Could we have a villain more powerful than final-form Tirek?

In terms of sheer power, no, I don't think that will be possible, unless they had some sort of universal power of destruction. Tirek in his strongest form had literally ALL of the magic from the ponies, that's pretty beast. I think the show has hit an overall power cap with Tirek, so future villains will need to be more cunning and sly.

I agree, they would have to be someone who could manipulate the ponies. Almost like a mixture between the changling queen, and discord, and sambra.

Maybe in the movie, but given how he absorbed all of the magic in Equestria, I kind of doubt that we will ever see a villain any stronger than that in FIM.

Unless things get really really out of control or something.

Yes, but they are probably not going to roll out a villain that powerful until the series finale or possibly the upcoming MLP movie. One potential villain that could be just as powerful or even more so would be Grogar who is another G1 villain and I would love to see a G4 incarnation for. Another idea would be one I suggested in the threat about what Greek mythological creature you would like to see and that is Thyphon who is the father/god of monsters, Typhon is so dangerous even the gods are afraid of him and if he was introduced in MLP it is very likely he would be even more powerful than Tirek.

They already did, and it was Discord, until they gave him morals. Discord had power over reality itself, but the only thing limiting him was his light-hearted, fun-loving personality. He didn't actually intend to destroy the world, merely to make it his playground and to oppose harmony. If Discord was motivated to destroy like Tirek, no one would have stood a chance against him.

I'd love a villain like Tiamat from Dungeons & Dragons (see link below) in MLP. She was not only powerful but also cunning.
