Dynamo felt felt somepony pat him on the shoulder and poked his head. He opened his eyes to see it was Copper and Ticktock checking to see if he was okay. He raised his head from the table and replied to them, "Yeah I'm okay. It's just...what Witty had said earlier is bothering me. I thought that tag duel was going to be fun and we could all be friends. I didn't think that a card, or 'number' was going to be put on the line." Dynamo rubbed both of his forehoofs through his hair before yelling out in frustration.

 

He looked and saw he was making a bit of a scene in the shop. With a chuckle and rubbing the back of his neck with a hoof while blushing, he responded, "Sorry about that everypony. I just don't understand what's so important about these 'number' cards anyway. To be honest I just thought they were regular cards that everypony uses. I still feel bad that I took Witty's card and I don't even want it anyway. I have my own copy of number 101, so I don't really see a point in having a second one. I'm just so confused and I'm afraid about dueling others who have a number card now. The tournament as well because I duel to win and have fun, but if I lose my cards I feel as though I'm losing a part of myself in a way. That's why I'm thinking about building another deck just in case I come across these 'number' duelists." Dynamo said as he took the number cards from his deck and laid them on the table for the others to see.

Ticktock nodded at Copper "Yeah you see Yugi Xyz summons need (as Copper said) multiple cards of the same level, however when an Xyz monster is summoned the monsters used to summon it (instead of going to the graveyard) stay in the Xyz monster, now when certain conditions are met you can detach these monsters from the Xyz, one reason you do this is to activate the Xyz monster's effect. As for synchro summons Copper pretty much hit a home run on that."

 

Ticktock frowned and patted Dynamo on that back "Hey dude you weren't to know what a number card could do... If your that worried about losing yours or Witty's though the only thing I can suggest is to take them out of your deck, aside from that if you want to give Witty her cards back, duel her and then throw it, but in such a way that she doesn't know you let her win otherwise she would probably take offence."

Yugi nodded in understanding of Ticktock and said, "That's pretty cool.  Having same level monsters to XYZ summon stronger monsters is nice."

 

Copper looked at Dynamo, then smiled.  "Cheer up, man.  What I would do is about the same as what Ticktock said, throw the match, but make sure she doesn't know you're letting her win, so you can give her her number back."

 

Unbeknownst to all of them, Astral was watching while being with Yuma, directly behind Dynamo and Ticktock, and observed the conversation.  Equestrian Vacation observation number 5.  The duelist known as Dynamo doesn't like taking other duelists' cards, and would rather let the number hunter keep his number.

 

He spoke his thought to his companion, Yuma.  "That is an interesting observation.  The pony known as Dynamo doesn't like taking other duelists' cards, and he would rather let the number hunter that he dueled against keep his number."

 

Yuma looked behind him to see the ponies and Yugi chatting.  He shrugged, saying quietly,  "Yeah, I see where he's coming from."  He took another drink of his shake before looking at his own number, Utopia.  "I'm still surprised that there are number hunters here in Equestria."

 

Astral nodded.  "I am surprised too."

Dynamo looked up to the Copper and Ticktock and then nodded his head. "I might do that, or I think I have an idea. Maybe I can build another deck and then duel her. If she wins I give her the card back no problem. There won't be any numbers in the deck so it's fair for both sides. I won't deny I would give it my best and then lose. However, she's a great duelist and I treat all my opponents with nothing less than my best. It's the same thing when I go play others in video game tournaments." Dynamo's frown slowly turned into a smile as he felt like he was back to his old self.

 

"Thanks you guys. I always have self doubt and become unsure of myself. I gotta take it one day at a time and I shouldn't sweat the small stuff. I'll come up with a deck and make sure to give Witty and any other duelist my best shot. Oh yeah that reminds me. Copper do you still have the invitation? What did the invitation say and are there any rules?" Dynamo raised his head from off the table as he looked over at Copper quizzically.

Ticktock suddenly felt a shiver go up his spine and had a quick glace at all the over tables, seeing nothing strange "That was weird it felt like someone was watching us... no must have been my imagination."

 

Ticktock shrugged at Dynamo "Well dude what you do is your chose at the end of the day, that is just what I would do if I were you." Ticktock then shifted his eyes over to Copper "Actually that's a good point Copper what does the invite say?"

Copper went wide eyed and took out his invitation.  "Oh, yeah.  I do have it.  Here's what it reads."

 

To Whom it may concern,

 

You've been invited to Equestria's first ever Battle Nation Tournament.  Princess Celestia and Princess Luna have agreed to join the Kaiba Corporation to let all duelists battle for the top spot.  The Tournament will be double elimination, so if you lose twice, you're out.  Only the best will make it to Canterlot for the finals.  The winner will receive the three Egyptian God Cards to use in your favor.

 

Good luck, and may the best duelist win.

 

Yuma, however, overheard the letter reading and shouted, "Egyptian God Cards?!"

 

Copper almost jumped again, then turned to see Yuma turned around and watching them.  "It's not nice to flank in a conversation."

 

Yuma smiled nervously, and rubbed the back of his head.  "Sorry.  I overheard your invite letter."

Dynamo nodded at Ticktock and replied, "Yeah, you're right Ticktock. I have to remember the meaning of my cutie mark that I create my own destiny. When the time is truly right, I'll know what to do in the end hopefully." Dynamo said smiling with renewed confidence.

 

Dynamo read what was on the invitation and gave the other occupants at the table a questionable look. "I'm really surprised that the Princesses had agreed to host a tournament with Kaiba. I've also never heard of the Egyptian God Cards, but they must be important if they are considered the top prize. Do you know what they are Yugi?"

 

Dynamo turned a bit in his seat to gaze over his shoulder to see Yuma behind them. "Hey Yuma, it's good to see you again. What are you doing here?" Dynamo raised his hoof up towards Yuma to bump fists/hooves with him. As he raised his hoof to Yuma he thought to himself, "I wonder if Yuma would know anything about what happened after today's tag duel. It's worth asking him and seeing if anything comes up."

Ticktock blink in surprise at the invitation "Wait, wait, wait, what's the Kaiba Corporation, I mean I can guess who it is probably run by but what does it do?"

 

Ticktock then yelped as Yuma shouted about the first prize "You know man you'll give a guy a heart attack doing that, that being said it's pretty obvious you know a bit about these 'Egyptian God' cards, I can tell from the name that their powerful... and dangerous."

Yuma was very confused, then shook his head at Ticktock, saying, "Sorry, I don't know anything about Eqyptian God Cards."

 

Yugi, however, does.  "I do.  they're extremely powerful monsters that require three monsters to tribute summon them.  And if you play the right cards, their powers can grow to infinity."

 

Copper raised an eyebrow at that statement.  "Oh?  It makes more sense that the Egyptian God Cards can carry infinite power more than that Divine Serpent."

 

Yuma also chipped in.  "Monsters that are more powerful than even Number monsters?  That's awesome!"

 

Astral said to Yuma, "I do not agree.  I fear that if they're in the wrong hands, they'll spell doom across our worlds."

 

Yuma didn't consider that.  "You may be right, Astral."

Dynamo took in all the information as he listened to Yugi's explanation. "They must be pretty powerful if they have a title like that. Being able to get each of them to infinite strength in their own right is pretty something. I guess that's why the divine serpent needed all three cards to get that power."

 

Dynamo then turned to Yuma with a confused and questioning look on his face. "Excuse me, Yuma? Can you tell me everything you know about the number cards and why I obtained Witty's card? Also who is this 'Astral' you speak of?

Ticktock had a look of disbelief in his eyes as Yumi explained the god cards "Surely using cards that powerful is unfair to the opponent, plus it gives me the chills, in the wrong hands they could be really dangerous." Ticktock then went back to writing in his note book about these Egyptian God cards. After he was finished Ticktock looked at Yumi "So how rare are these cards, I'd imagine rather rare for something that powerful."

Yuma pursed his lip, putting a hand on his chin as he thought of what the Number cards were.  "Well, I dunno what the number cards are, but I had a vision that they were the key to saving Earth, and that in my world, numbers can't be destroyed except by other number monsters."

 

Yugi nodded at Ticktock and said, "The Egyptian God Cards are the rarest of cards in existence.  And that's about it for that."

Dynamo listened in on Yuma's description on the number cards. Dynamo then responded to Yuma, "That's impressive how the number cards have a unique ability on their own. I guess Equestria's version of the numbers are much different from where you're from. Is there any reason as to why Witty's number was presented to me after that tag duel? Also, is there a purpose towards the number cards?" 

 

Dynamo turned in his seat to face Ticktock before asking him, "He Ticktock, did Witty talk to you about these number cards? If there's anything you know please tell me. I'm just trying to understand on what's been going on today."

Ticktock went into thought for a minute possessing the information he just received "Hey Yugi if the Egyptian God cards are that rare and powerful why do you think they're the top prize in this competition?"

 

Ticktock turned to Dynamo "Nope sorry Witty didn't tell me anything, I only met her after Copper's first duel ended."

Yugi shrugged at Ticktock, not knowing why the god cards were top prize. "I don't know honestly. But I do know that the cards will attract all kinds if ponies to Canterlot, even those who want to use them for evil."

Yuma nodded at Dynamo, saying to him, "Well, back in my world, we search for the numbers because they're needed to restore the memory of Astral, my spirit friend who I yelled at earlier. He's here, it's just that only I can see him."

Dynamo frowned and sighed slightly, but smiled and nodded in understanding. "Okay and thanks anyway Ticktock." Dynamo turned towards Yuma's direction and listened in on he had to say. It was rather interesting on how the numbers Yuma had were used in his dimension.

 

"I'm glad to know who Astral is and why you were yelling earlier. It seemed like you were a little crazy, no offense Yuma." Dynamo chuckled a bit before taking on a bit of a serious expression. "Though I do have to ask something. Can Astral hear me and can he tell us anything he can on the numbers? Can he also tell us what had happened with that card I got from Witty?"

A concerned look grew on Ticktock's face "I guess then that the stakes to win a rose significantly, I mean with cards like that I bet at least one duellist in the match will probably have nefarious intentions... Yugi you've probably been in similar situations to this before right?, so tell me am I just being paranoid or do you think there might be something or someone sinister afoot?"

"Not that simple, Dynamo." Yuma replied. He shook his head beforehand and said to the unicorn gamer pony, "Astral can hear you, you just can't hear him. Though I can talk for him. The numbers are important because not only do we have to restore Astral's memory, but also find out what the Numeron card can do."

Yugi nodded at Ticktock and told him, "Yeah, there's a good chance that there is someone sinister here as well. So we have to keep an eye out for anything suspicious."

 

(Both and Contrast)

 

Anymore conversation would be interrupted, however, when a pony suddenly went in Sugarcube Corner and yelling, "Everyone! There's a duel going on in the center of town! Check it out!" He then galloped out of the bakery to watch the duel.

 

Yuma grinned at his friends. "This one should be exciting! Let's go everyone!" He jumped out of the seat before leaving, with Astral following.

 

Copper said to his friends, "I don't see why not." Then he put his finished shake up before heading out, with Yugi doing the same.

 

(In Ponyville)

 

"Just like that, you're able to summon multiple high level monsters at once?!"

 

Yusei Fudo was shocked beyond belief at the strategy he was seeing. His opponent, Yuya Sasaki, was using Pendulum summoning to his advantage.

 

"That's right, Yusei. And that is the power of the Pendulum Summon." He said.

Ticktock nodded at Yugi "Yep I agree one hundred percent."

 

Ticktock then turned his attention to the pony that ran inside Sugarcube corner shouting about a duel in the towns centre. Ticktock smiled "Yep i'm with you guys, lets see what this is all about!" Ticktock ran out, right behind Yugi, and stopped when he reached the town centre where he quickly became confused "Um hey guys, do any of you know what pendulum summoning is?"

Dynamo was relieved he can get some answers on the number cards from the invisible spirit. Just as he was about to ask another question he heard a pony talking about another duel going on outside. "Now this is something I got to see. I guess questions will have to wait for later. Come on, let's go guys! Thanks for the shake and cupcake, Pinkie!" He yelled as he galloped out of the shop to follow his friends outside. As he got near the group he saw two duelists facing off and one was about to use this Pendulum Summon.

 

He turned to Ticktock before saying, "I've heard of some summoning abilities like Xyz and Synchro. Though Pendulum is new to me so I can't really help you on this one Ticktock. It does sound cool and interesting though." Dynamo was intrigued and wondered how this worked and if there were other summoning abilities in this game.

Ticktock grunted at Dynamos answer "Well yeah it seems cool, however it's only fair if both duellists can pendulum summon I mean look in what has probably been a short amount of time, the duellist using the pendulum summons have two high level monster's on the battle field I mean in order to deal with them you'd most likely have to set something up over multiple rounds which is near impossible given the high level monsters."

After thinking about it, Dynamo could see why Pendulum summoning can give a player a major advantage. While looking at the field, he couldn't help but notice the duelist named Yusei. "While I can agree on your assumption Ticktock, I have a feeling that Yusei might have some surprises in store for us. I don't know why, but I think he'll be okay no matter what this Yuya has in store for him." Dynamo said with a somewhat serious look on his face. He then closed his eyes for a brief second while thinking, 'I really hope this duel can give me the answer that I'm looking for. Maybe then I'll be able to solve the dilemma that I faced earlier.' Dynamo opened his eyes back up and continued to spectate the duel.

(Skipping to Yusei's turn, Yusei used Scrap iron Scarecrow during Yuya's attack phase.  Yusei: 2200 LP; Yuya: 4000)

 

"My turn.  I draw!"  Yusei drew his card and placed it in his hand.  Then, "First, I special summon Unknown Synchron from my hand.  As long as you control a monster and I don't, I can special summon this monster to the field."

 

The card appeared, and the Unknown Synchron rose up from the card in Defense Position.  Yusei continued his summoning afterwards.  "Next, I activate, One for One!  This lets me send a monster from my hand to the graveyard, to special summon a level 1 monster from my deck."

 

He discarded his Quillbolt Hedgehog, then, "I special summon, Tuning Ware!"

 

His summoning didn't stop there.  "Next, I summon, Synchron Carrier!  This card lets me normal summon an additional synchron monster this turn.  Now I'll tune my Unknown Synchron, Tuning Ware and Synchron Carrier!  Come forth, Arborian!"

 

The Synchro monster appeared after a showing of a circle and dotted lights together, and the monster prepared for battle.

 

Yugi looked intrigued at the summoning technique.  "So that's the Synchro Summoning they've been talking about."

Dynamo watched as Yusei protected himself against Yuya's monsters. He was surprised a trap card was able to be placed back face down for the next turn. After the combo to summon the Armory Arm monster, Dynamo was jumping up and down in place, a smile etched onto his muzzle. "I can't believe there's a way to summon monsters like this. This synchro summoning is really cool. Wait he used that synchron Carrier to allow another summon of a synchron monster. I think he has a plan and I can't wait to see what it is." Dynamo said as he began to realize the strategy to Yusei's turn.

Ticktock went into a some what deep thought over that duel before being bought back to reality by Dynamo talking "Yes synchro summoning really is an amazing thing, and with a line up of syncro-monster's like that he has to have some plan, and I think it's going to be big."

 

Ticktock then turned to Yugi "Yeah that's syncro-summoning I've always liked the idea of it, you know give a little get a powerful monster, I mean the normal syncro's are powerful in their own respect, but when combine they truly become a force to be reckoned with."
