"To the docks then" Jake asked himself. "That can wait. I just got here after all." Jake looked down towards Bright Lightning with a smile. "How about you and me take a walk around this city, and "paint the town red" as the kids say" Jake asked his companion.
 
Bright Lightning seemed to look a bit reserved on the subject. "What is it boy? Worried about missing the boat? No worries, we'll make it with time to spare," Jake enthusiastically reassured his companion with his trademark smile. Bight Lightning gave an enthusiastic reply and the two were ready to go. 
 
The two began walking through the city when a smile ran away from Jake's face. "I just remembered, I don't actually know where we're going." Jake looked around a minute and noticed an information booth with a bunch of maps.
 
Jake rushed up to the stand. "Hey *pant*, can I get one of those maps *pant*," Jake managed to ask the girl, completely out of breath. The girl, with a seemingly endless smile and enthusiasm, replied to Jake "Sure, here you go!" Jake thanked her and began looking over the map. "Oh, there's apparently a coffee house with world famous coffee right around here," he said as he began walking down the streets.

Kyubi nodded slightly and smiled. "Sure. I don't see why not. It'd help with communicating as well." She said. The trainer figured that Blitz didn't really talk much, preferring to use telepathy instead. "I wonder if Masamune and I could do that." Kyubi then turned her attention to the ralts on her shoulders.

Some of the other trainers were already pairing off, and, hearing the call of one of the other girls, felt a rush of confidence and decided to do the same. Catching up to the other teen, she offered a nervous smile before waving a little. "Um, hi! I hope you don't mind me taking you up on your offer. Kari, right? I'm Violet." she said, mentally fist-pumping at the fact that she didn't even stammer once. "That's a cute Pidgey you have there."

 

Kari grinned at Violet, and grabbed the teen's hand in another firm shake. "A pleasure to meet you, Violet, and also to have you! Our group is already growing, yes?" She smirked.

 

Her smirk became a grin at her compliment, and she agreed. "Merci! Yes, Zephyr is rather precious, isn't he? Your Starly is cute too."

 

Zephyr let out a soft coo of thanks to Violet.

 

 

While Orion was thinking to himself, the Pichu had climbed up to his head, where, upon looking around, spotted the Pidgey and the Starly of the two girls nearby. With a large smile, it waved and proclaimed very loudly to the two Pokemon, "Pichu!!!"

 

The Pidgey turned in the direction of the Pichu, and tilted his head curiously at its greeting. He cooed a reply.

"Oh thank arceus. My mouth was starting to get sore, not that I don't enjoy talking with you." Blitz thought, projecting his voice into Kyubi's head. He tried not to be to loud, though. "Anyway, if you want to respond, just think of something you want to say to me and it'll be transmitted through the link. Any private thoughts are kept in your own head, though." The trainer then glanced at the docks and out into the sea. There seemed to be enough boats for each trainer, and it probably wouldn't take that long to get across the channel. "You want to go somewhere to eat, or head to the mainland?"

Kyubi couldn't help but giggle a bit at Blitz and gently tapped his forehead. "Oh. I think it's a bit early for the first date, considering we just met and all. Come on. Let's get on a boat." She said, before walking towards the dock. She could tell that she was going to enjoy spending time with Blitz. "What do you think about him, Masa?"

 

The ralts gave a smile as he laid his arms on his trainer's head. "Ralts." He said, a hint of approval of his trainer's choice of friends.

The Pidgey turned in the direction of the Pichu, and tilted his head curiously at its greeting. He cooed a reply.

 

Pichu's smile widened as it received a reply from Zephyr. However, a twitch of her tail was all the warning Zephyr got that she had taken the greeting too far.

 

"PI-CHUUUUUU!"

 

With a cry of glory, Pichu used Orion's head as a springboard to launch herself at the Pidgey. The bird wisely decided to leap off of it's Trainer's head, flapping and squawking it's way to the ground indignantly, while a cute, yellow, two-pound ball of excited static fur collided with Kari's head where the bird was moments before.

 

Orion, knocked off balance by the use of his head as a springboard, shook his head and looked upon the scene with dawning horror. Without saying a word, he started running over as fast as he could, thinking to collect his Pokemon as fast as possible and hoping desperately she wasn't one for giving lectures or getting revenge or anything of the sort.. However, he tripped on the sidewalk curb and landed face-first into a wall, just barely missing Blitz and Kyubi. A thin trickle of blood ran down his nose as his face slowly began to flush red with embarrassment.

Gene had backed off from the lab, ever so slightly, when the trainers started to walk out. Watching them seemingly compare their newly acquired pokemon, talking amongst eachother, introducing eachother. 

 

He felt oddly left out--which was a first, for him. After all, he was never bothered about not being part of the group, why would that change now?

 

Regardless, he decided on letting his Rattata out from it's pokeball, having his small companion bounce onto his shoulder, approaching the group.

Blitz didn't really notice the fall Orion took as he simply stood in place, momentarily stunned by what Kyibi had said. Was she joking or was she honestly entertaining the thought of a relationship between them. The trainer then noticed that she was almost to a boat and ran after her, eventually joining. After a few moments, the boat began to sail to the mainland of the Algard region. As for Azula, she was sitting on his shoulder.

She blinked as Orion tripped over himself and collapsed. "Um... this Pichu is yours, oui?" She asked, cocking an eyebrow.

 

 

"Hi-ho! Veterans or rookies?" He asked casually, when he was within earshot. 

 

She turned to look at Gene, and smirked at him. "Ah! I am the veteran, yes?"

Violet’s eyes widened in surprise at Kari’s firm handshake, before she smiled again, nervousness fading a little. “Thank you!” Aster nodded his head, chirruping also before flitting up and jumping onto Violet’s head to match Zephyr’s position.

She opened her mouth to say something else, before all of a sudden Zephyr was a mess of feathers and a small, yellow fuzzball was rocketing towards the other girl. She let out a small gasp at the impact, before watching the feathers settle and realising it was but a small, adorable Pichu, and let out a sigh of relief. “Are you two both okay? That was quite an impact.” she asked, directing the question at both the Pichu and Kari.

 

 

Her smile was soon replaced with a look of horror as the other boy literally whacked his face into a wall, blood now running down his nose. Forgetting her shyness, she hurried over, already pulling tissues and a small, instant ice-pack out of her bag. “Oh my gosh are you okay? You shouldn’t be so rushed, that’s no good for you or anyone around you.” She chastised, kneeling down and offering him the tissues and the ice-pack.

"I'm sorry," Orion said through his bloodied nose. "I was trying to obtain Pichu from the aftermath of her... erm... blaze of glory." Shaking his head somewhat, he accepted the tissues and ice with a soft "Thank you." He sighed. "I'm sorry to bother you like this."

 

 

 

"Um... this Pichu is yours, oui?"

 

"Um... yes, I selected the Pichu. I think that the term 'mine' is a bit odd, though..." He sighed as the ice pack began to take effect, slowing and then stopping the bleeding. "I'm really am sorry. I didn't expect for her to do-" he paused as he considered her hair, having become frizzy by the electrical impulses the Pichu gave off. He smiled a bit at how it made her hair stand up on end, and wondered if he looked the same way. "Um... to... do... that."

 

Pichu, meanwhile, was enjoying being coddled by this cute new trainer, who didn't even seem to yell at her when she went to 'socialize' with Zephyr (who Pichu had effectively completely forgot about by now).

"About time to head out," Jake thought as he paid for his coffee. Leaving the coffee shop he and Bright Lightning made their way through town until they arrived at the dock.

 

"Looks like our adventure is just a boat ride away." Jake said to Bright Lightning, who looked at Jake with disdain. "Ok, so maybe we were a bit late to the party, it's already sundown, but we made it... eventually."

 

They made their way onto the boat. Jake didn't look back as the boat left the dock, he only looked forward.

As the boat moved through the water, Kyubi felt herself relax a bit and smiled as she stood on the deck. "So, do you have any idea what your team will be? You seem like the kind of guy who'd do something like that." She thought, glancing at Blitz. The trainer had to admit, speaking through a mental link was definitely a better way to keep others from eavesdropping.

Blitz simply gave a slight shrug as he scratched the area behind Azula's left ear, eliciting a content growl from the small fox. "Well, I'll probably have a Delphox by the time the Pokemon league rolls around thanks to this little beauty, so that's two types covered already. Aside from that, I have a few ideas, but I'd have to be pretty lucky to find the Pokemon and tms I need." He said, looking past the bow of the boat. "Just because I'm a psychic doesn't mean I'll focus on just that type, though. I'm just going to make that blatantly clear. So, what about you?"

The girl stood from her crouch, giggling as she watched the Pichu coddle Kari. "Well gosh, she's certainly something. Here, come on. Do you think you can stand?" she smiled, offering a hand to help the teen up.

 

"... yeah. Thanks." He took the offered hand and stood up carefully. As she did so, Pichu leaped out of Kari's arms back onto his shoulder, rife with static that made it stick to his clothes. "I wasn't expecting her to do that... but, then again, I wasn't particularly expecting to be on a journey of my own, either." He looked at the pair, as well as the as they drifted into the distance, and the one trainer who had apparently decided to travel on his own. "... is it tradition to travel in pairs, or is it merely a preference?"

 

 

 

"Hi-ho! Veterans or rookies?" He asked casually, when he was within earshot.

 

He jumped a little bit as another trainer walked up to them, a Ratatta perched on his shoulder. "Um... Hello. I am a complete rookie here, and to Pokemon in general. My first time touching a Pokeball was this morning." He paused, ad quickly added, "I lived... a sheltered life, to say the least. How are you doing today, Mister...?"

Kyubi gave a slight smile and nodded. "That's understandable. I'll probably do the same, despite the fact that I could be considered a dragon trainer. I don't like being constrained to just one type and personally hate those who judge others based on stereotypes." The teen then sat on a nearby seat and gently rubbed Masamune's head, while letting her other hand rest on the cushion of the seat.

Blitz didn't look at Kyubi as she spoke. If he had, she would've seen a smile spread across the psychic's lips. That was the first time anyone had ever said that to him, and it made him feel a bit lighter for some reason. Most people just assumed that because he was a psychic, he only focused on that type and would pretty much fill their team with dark type Pokemon. When he swept their team, his opponents would always get mad, but he didn't care. It was their own fault for trying to push a stereotype onto him. He didn't really show much emotion or even really talk to other humans that much, but Kyubi had broken through that side of him in almost a second. At least with her, he felt like a better person.

 

Of course, Azula noticed her trainer's current emotional state and nuzzled into his neck to comfort him, before jumping off his shoulder and sitting next to Kyubi.

 

The trainer took the hint and did the same. "Thanks. You'll definetly be an interesting opponent in the league." He said, unknowingly putting his hand on hers. Before the moment could continue further, the boat the two trainers were on, along with the one Jake was on, docked into the port in Maidenpoint town.

"Hey, you guy's made it!" Jake said with a smile, waving to Blitz and Kyubi as he got off the boat. "How did the trip fair ya," Jake asked the younger trainers.

 

Jake had never really been in this situation before. He was always around the same age as the other young trainers he met. He only just entered his 30's a few months ago. Sure, being in his 20's he was already older than most of them, but not by much. Funny, he didn't feel like an old man.

Kyubi felt a slight heat rush to her cheeks as she felt Blitz's hand on her own. She wasn't really complaining, though. To her, it was a sign of trust between the two of them and aside from that, it felt good for some reason. "Yeah. Same to you. Don't think I'll go easy on you, though. If we ever get into a Pokemon fight, I won't hold back." She said. Of course, the trainer hadn't noticed the boat was docked until she had actually looked around, and hoped that no one was watching them. "Looks like we're in the next town." Kyubi then stood and walked onto the dock, feeling a bit unsteady from the ride.

As soon as Kyubi got off the boat, she noticed another trainer attempting to talk to her and Blitz. "Oh, you're one of the trainers that were in Zelkovia's lab.I was wondering where you went. Either way, the trip was fine." She said, giving a slight smile.

"Travelling in a group helps make the journey go a little faster, oui?" Kari grinned, lifting her hand over her head to pet Zephyr. "Pokémon are some of the best company, but sometimes they are not the best at holding conversations with people."

 

Zephyr cooed in protest to his trainer's comment, and responded with a gentle nibble on her finger with his beak.

 

"Well, it's not my fault I can't speak Pokémon!"

Blitz didn't really know why, but he felt awkward now that Kyubi was gone. A strange feeling also began to form in his chest, but he couldn't quite describe what it was. "Great. Now I have something else to figure out." He thought to himself, before following Kyubi off the boat. It didn't take him long to notice Jake. Something about the older trainer didn't sit right with him, but he ignored it for now. "I didn't expect to see another trainer this far out yet."

"I actually thought it was much later than it is," Jake said with a look of embarrassment. His Electrike, Bright Lightning, just shook his head with disappointment. "Hey, you thought it was just as late as I did," Jake exclaimed. Now Bright Lightning was the one with a look of embarrassment. "It's alright buddy, it's not like this place would have gone anywhere whether we were early or late."

 

"I'm still trying to find my bearings, and where we should be going. And by that I mean I'm basically lost," Jake said to Blitz and Kyubi, surprisingly with less embarrassment than earlier.

And so it was decided that the great-but-not-actually-great Lektra Bolt would travel to Algard, for science and gaining new badges.

 

I wrote that in my personal memoirs as I flew on Charla the Charizard to Medowrue City, then closed the app. This was the last time I'd be seeing Charla for a long time, as well as Blaze the Blaziken and all the others. I'd always chosen the Fire type starter on my journeys, but from my understanding with this lab we had to choose by types and not choose out of the usual three. I hoped I would get something I liked. While I liked most Pokémom rather equally, Fire and Electric were my favorite types. This was always the case and I didn't see it ever changing. I'd sent the paperwork as an email ahead of time.

 

The extremely large Mega Charizard Y landed at the doorstep of the lab with a thud, kicking up some dust as I jumped off her back. Recalling her, I mentally locked my PC Box access to Pokémon I'd previously captured. I hoped I wouldn't be tempted to pull them out, as I'd always started fresh in new regions. It just happened that I rather enjoyed traveling with Charla. Or by Charla? Nope, she's not a plane so with seemed to make more sense in my musings.

 

Getting my bearings a bit I looked around as I slid my Mega Ring off and put it in my backpack, as I wouldn't need it for a good while either.

Zelkovia looked over to see another trainer had arrived, and gave a gentle smile. "Hello, my dear. I wasn't expecting to another trainer, but that is to be expected. The professor didn't really feel like repeating what had already been told to the other trainers, so he simply looked at the types Electra had submitted for her starter.
