Inspiration Manifestation has a portion of Discord type power

With a snap Rarity was able to make anything she envisioned. Even though it doesn't seem to have mind control powers or other non-physical related powers that Discord has it does have the same kind of instantaneous law breaking matter manipulation.

Well it did take control of her mind somewhat, since she had no memory of what transpired while she was under the effects of the book... but otherwise, yeah it did. There are probably a few artifacts and books and such with that amount of power. We saw the Alicorn Amulet that Trixie had was also able to do such things to a degree.

More curious is the state of the book itself. Something like that I would not imagine being digestible... so was it destroyed... or did Spike just have a VERY bad day afterwards?

Spike did eat the book itself, but the actual magical essence managed to drift away.

And we eventually saw another book -- in the background during The Gift Of The Maud Pie.

Magic is infinitely diverse, so just because it resembles Discord's abilities does not mean it is the same type.

For instance, you can start fires manually, through magic you can generate fire, you can do a liquid chemical reaction, you can have a magical potion of fire causing, you can summon fire from a location it already existed at, you can use electricity magic to overheat something til it catches fire, you can increase the air temperature to cause fire to happen.

In regards to magic though mindsets seem to be a key in it. So all magic is basically a cheat code, in a universe where there is a full spectrum of magic pertaining directly to psychology and the world around them. So its as simple as does the spell do the same thing? Does the effect happen all at once or extremely quickly filling out? Is it an object teleported from a realm with every object, or is it made from scratch? Is it the embodiment of her imagination, through such a realm, from scratch, through tangible illusory material, and what type of mindset is required?

We see emotion effecting magic during Twi's prep for sombra for instance.

Basically theres more than one way to skin a cat. http://www.worldwidewords.org/qa/qa-mor1.htm

Almost certainly a Joke and nothing serious, but I still like to headcanon that the book is utterly indestructable and will reappear no matter what a set period later after being destroyed, hence it appeared there near rarity hoping to be picked up again: Hence why it was locked up and not just burnt or destroyed, since at least when you imprison it somewhere you KNOW where its at and can keep it locked away rather than it just reappearing over and over again.

Either that, or the essence just found its way into a backup book.

My headcanon is that the book was created by Discord as a contingency plan similar to the plunderseeds, and that the chaos it creates would have eventually freed him, were he still petrified at the time.
