Could MLP ever apeal like hello Kitty?

HK has been around for a LONG time, and so has the MLP franchise. But unlike MLP, HK has grown to adapt and appeal to older audiences- leaving stickers and toys to the youngn's, while also having high quality and sometimes, collectors edition bags, wallets, purses, compacts, etc. for older women as well.

Can you guys see MLP ever mimicking Hello Kitty's branch out to more practical items for adult audiences?

I think it's likely that, in time, MLP:FIM will inspire feelings of nostalgia for both the children (for whom gen 4 was their first exposure to MLP) and the already-adults that watched the series or participated in the fandom.  While the Hello Kitty brand has been handled by people with enough sense to capitalize on its appeal to kids and fans who simply got older, the MLP brand (in terms of sales to adults) has been, perhaps, better handled by third parties.  For example: I just purchased a Christmas-themed Rainbow Dash shirt from a site that caters to all sorts of fans of popular culture old and new.  Hasbro didn't have anything to do with that.  Do you see Hasbro-approved or manufactured adult t-shirts of first gen ponies?  No?  I think that's less to do with demand and more to do with Hasbro's unwillingness or inability to market to aging fans.

All of this. Unless Hasbro sees $$$$ all of a sudden in nostalgia.

Ummm....since when is Hello Kitty that big?

I barely see any People wearing Hello Kitty Stuff. In the last 3 Years or so, i saw no one.

How is it so popular?

The only thing i see, is some Hello Kitty Merchandize in Stores, but its mostly the same as Mlp.

At least, from what i have seen.

I think Mlp appeals to as many People, as Hello Kitty does.

I see Mlp Stuff more often than hello Kitty Stuff.

Also, i dont like Hello Kitty, even if im an Adult XD

Even as a Kid, i thought Hello Kitty was boring.  :ooh:

I am not exactly sure what is appealing about Hello Kitty in the first place really. The character itself seems so bland and soulless. Ironically the far less popular characters by Sanrio are waaaaay more appealing to me. I think MLP appeals far more than Hello Kitty but in its own way.

i was referring to a wider range of audiences that HK has. It appeals to young children as well as adult women, and has products that cater to both age groups

And yeah, I get not everyone likes HK, as you don't, but that wasn't the point I was trying to make

I would say it already does, since MLP already has a huge variety of fans. Also MLP has a leg up on HK since it appeals to a large majority of male viewers, both young and old, where HK struggles with that (a least here it does)

Hasbro may be slow on the marketing bandwagon for MLP, but the brand itself has crossed over with all sorts of merchandise for all sorts of fans.

I think both franchises do a decent job in attracting a number of non-child fans and because of this, it's not that hard to find things for those consumers. For Sanrio's mascot in particular, I've seen more high end adult things like watches in Japan. Not much outside of that though. MLP has the brony fandom of course and at the very least, it's good at producing its own variety of goods even better than the official merchandise.
