I don't think I fall into that catagory. I guess thinking more deeply I'm still upset they totally screwed up Starlight as a character.

They won points back when the queen didn't reform but Starlight actually was a competent villain..and yet somehow...despite having Twilight dead center in her sights...she turns a 180.

I don't buy it.

Hate..is a powerful fuel. Sometimes you can't stop hate you just have to deal with its collateral damage. To know when to do so is the important part. That's a lesson there we need. When to realize something isn't worth the time.

But no..we had to make a friend x.x

Well arent we doom and gloom, yeah, hate is something you overcome, you either let it mold you, or you realize hate isnt worth the time... realistically Twilight was keeping her close because of that distrust in her "friendly heart" (allegedly) the same distrust displayed in No Second Prances.... people like to hate things because they feel like it gives them a purpose... its easier to hate something because you dont have to give it positive attention and it means you are taking from someone or something self esteem or well being, not putting back into it positively...

I entirely agree hate is easier then love. But, not everyone is going to come around. It would be nice..but realistically it isn't going to happen.

I think that's a valuable lesson for any age to learn. Try by goodness try..but don't put yourself in harm's way if you know the train isn't stopping.

I like to think I have a sunny...disposition for the most part ;)

sending that message can alternatively put the message of distrust into a young child... if someone is actively trying to change, you dont just say "well they were bad, so thats all she wrote" especially when they are reaching out and doing good things. it is your right not to like whoever you dislike, but know that your feelings dont define someone elses intentions.

A reasonable conclusion. I'm simply saying that we instil both mentality any viewer young or old, because let's be honest in this day and age it seems everyone needs some pony advice. :P

Sometimes some people, not everyone, just want to hate. The key is learning how to tell who is who using your own judgement. :)

I dont make any objective character descriptions based on what I believe someone is... I try to get to know them, I am just used to that judgment being pushed on me, so rarely do I get a chance to have a meaningful friendship. distrust is the essence of wanting to hate, and you push hate on someone when you collectively distrust them.

I would agree. Perhaps I didn't make myself clear that is on me.

Getting to know someone is key to passing said judgment. Never just judge a book by its cover or you end up missing the cure for poison joke. A pony taught me that ;)

All I know is that I'm getting damn tired of her mind control and repeated pleas for forgiveness. It's happened to many damn times now, and apparently will happen again in S7, with her forcing the calming spell on Twilight. Fucking stop it.

SPOILER ALERT. haha well damn... yeah her thinking magic is the resolution to all problems is her biggest character flaw.

I love the character. She's basically a evil (Formerly) Version of Twilight. Which is to akward nerd... ++ for me.

But HATE.... LOATH WITH THE PASSION OF A MILLION SUNS! ~All hail Celestia~ Her delivery.

That is to say her back story. It basically requires the rest of the cast to be stupid when they deal with her until they/we get to like her.

exactly like pre-princess Twilight...Which I also hated about her. But with Two, the mind control only happened once, then she learned her lesson. With Starlight Gutter....no

Yeah that was amusing. Once.

Now it's cliche xD

Here is the issue... Starlight, sucks at friendship... its obvious, shes had one genuine friend her entire life and lost them... when shes doing these things, you have to imagine, she thinks she is coming up with a positive resolution, because she is used to solving her problems with magic... you see this even when it comes to setting tables... its part of her "identity" persay, it doesnt make it right, but she thinks, "oh well ill calm twilights anxiety down" my problem with this is, Starlight? you have the worst anxiety of anyone, many times you should have used this on yourself lol

I agree entirely. The fundamental flaw in her personality is unfortunately tied to her actual character. Once we fix it she'll be a a background pony.

I dont completely agree with that, but... to each their own... to each their own...having characters with imperfections is what is giving us plots, people just seem to forget this

Oh I agree. Fix all flaws and we have..well..not much.

But Starlight is so used to fixing things by force that even now she's out of her element to the point where she almost screwed up the season finale despite its suicide squad like composure.

Where did she screw up in the S6 Finale? in regards to doing so by force?

Not so much force but still the under use of her new skills before finally coming to her senses played a big part of it in my opinion.

Had she not had so many unique characters with her she would not have been able to prevail. Now swap out Twilight for her and we would have easily seen a more coordinated strike.

That entire episode save a few moments felt so manufactured to make us like her it left a bad taste in my mouth.

I loved her prior to the episode, so i did not have the same taste, and I dont know... Thorax played a big part in making this happen, and even Trixie made herself a sacrificial lamb to make the end resolution possible... keep in mind the elements of harmony wouldnt work in a fortress that disarms magic...

Oh we stopped using the power Ranger emblems a while ago. No doubt Twilight would have come up with a daring plan and trixie would have some how redeemed herself if you took out starlight.

Thorax role was vital I won't argue that. Starlight seemed so lost for most of it, not so much tragically but almost comically making it up as she went along. :)

But remember they put a lot of pressure on her to take charge, and lead, so you have to keep that in mind as well, she was nervous because she was involuntarily made a leader, and still she found her way.
