Would you consider this show to be anime-like?

I read a few comments on various other message boards that MLP:FiM is asian and anime. Granted these certainly weren't coming from people that really are into the show but nevertheless it is what I have heard it referred to as. Any ideas why the enunciated would view this as asian/anime like?

Maybe because the character designs (specifically the eyes) look awfully bishoujo, the Mane 6 are quite similar to the Sailor Scouts (especially whenever the Elements/Rainbow are/is involved), etc.?

I see EQG being more anime like than FIM due to it's narrative s taking a more magical girl direction.

To me it is nothing like an anime... Though I'm no otaku so can't make too many comparisons...

I guess because they see the eyes and judge it instantly because of it, they look pretty similar imo

Considering how many different styles of anime there are out there, I suppose for some it could be considered one... but in my personal opinion, it is nothing like what I think of when the word anime is used.
