When you think about it, Spike is one of the most powerful creatures in Equestria, given his connections. He has ties to the Princess of Friendship, the co-ruler of Equestria, An extremely powerful unicorn, the rulers of the changelings and dragons, and a reality-warping god of chaos.

Spike is easily the most influential member of his species. He's in the inner circle of the Equestrian rulers, as well as a hero to the citizens of the Crystal Empire. He was asked to sing the Cloudsdale Anthem at the Equestria Games. He has developed friendships with a rising star in the pony fashion industry, a member of the most elite flying team in Equestria, the leader of the reformed Changelings, the Dragon Lord (whose title he briefly held), the reformed Lord of Chaos who could destroy Equestria if he really wanted to, possibly the most powerful unicorn in Equestria, and a prominent family of farmers.

He is just friends with powerfull ponies but so are the rest of mane6 ans princesses. His connections might not be strong enough to really influence any form of authority. After all he is still just a kid and others will not take him seriously. He would need to actually marry Ember or THorax to have this sort of power. In comparison, Fluttershy might be the most powerfull in Equestria if her relationship with Dicscord will go this far, she could just literally tell Discord to turn Spike and all his allies into bag of potatoes.
