Shadow opened a portal and said as he pulled a tank with a dark blue ball of magic in it out, "I actually meant a spirit. I captured this a while ago, so I can't remember which spirit it is, the nightmare one or the dream one. As for the wine, I was going to drink it before going to jail, but since I'm not, I'll drink it right now

Maple flinched "Wait is... Is that the tantabus... No there's no way that it could be the same dream monster Luna and I fought. However it does look similar to it..."  How did it escape She thought Luna had come to terms with it

Shadow shrugged and said as he pulled the cork out with his teeth, "I can't tell, spirits look the same to me." Once the cork was out, Shadow grabbed a glass and added as he poured it into the cup, "Do you want some wine?"

"If it's actually Luna's I'll take it back to her when I get the time." She sat down "Yea I'll take some. What to celebrate you becoming a guard and all. I bet this stuff tastes great since what you where saving it for was so extreme."

Shadow handed Maple the glass he was pouring and said as he grabbed another glass and poured him a drink, "I heard it's good and it should be, I had to smuggle this past Princess Cadence's nose. I'm celebrating for having an honest living, done with all the killing, poisoning, and stealing for other ponies. The only thing I can think of that wasn't bad was helping out an admirer of Princess Luna." He took a gulp and added, "Not bad, guess this is why it was under lock and key."

For the sake of being polite Maple disregarded the killing and stealing, She rolled her eyes "I'm more than just an admirer." She said she help her class up "Cheers" she drank it. Waited for a second "Yea it's alright. I could probably mix something better."

Shadow chuckled a little and said, "It was another pony. I was walking around, then I get the feeling I was being stalked. So I turned around to see a small colt standing there, pulling a wagon with a box. He asked me to take the box to Luna since he didn't know if she'll get it or not. I told him I will, then he jumped on me and gave me a hug." He gulped the rest of the cup and poured him another drink

"Huh. That kids probably gonna join the night guard when he comes of age." She said drinking a bit more of the wine. "It seems to get better as I drink it that's kinda new." In honesty it was but not enough to be noticeable immediately.

Shadow nodded and said as he set his drink down, "Yeah, probably. I'm going to give this spirit some sunlight. He picked up the tank and placed it outside. He sat down on top of it and took a deep breath of the country air.

Maple was smiling he's feeling a lot better now She thought Well I mean he seems like it. She walked over to him "I don't care about what happened in your past but back in that bar... You just seemed so mad at somepony. I felt like the guard thing would help but when I actually got Luna's help I knew things would get better for you."

Shadow said as he opened a portal for his drink and open the window to let the house cool down, "Yeah, some dumb pony wanted me to attack Fluttershy, even though he knew Discord was with her. If I did that, you, her friends, Discord, and maybe the princesses would be after me until I paid for it. So becoming a guard helped."

"Wow That pony was an idiot thinking you'd do that." Maple said laughing "Why would a pony want her dead though perhaps to prevent the use of the elements but that would only make me the bearer of kindness." She shrugged "Well that doesn't really matter."

Shadow said as he shrugged, "He was paying enough to be set for life, or pay off the guards. I don't think the elements of hereditary, but I may be wrong about it." He placed the glass down on top of the tank and pushed it in. He added as he headed up the stairs, "I'm going to get some rest."

"Alright" she said picking up the tank with one of luna's spirits in it "I'll just take this to Luna plus, I've gotta guard rounds I need to do anyways. See ya around." She flew off as she headed for canterlot.

Shadow walked into his room and took the armor, then he decided to put a mannequin downstairs for guards that came over to rest in the future. He grabbed one out of storage and placed it in the guest room. Then he headed into his room and went to bed.

Maple after arriving at canterlot was met with spears a guard walked over to her. "Why do you have the tantabus?"

Maple rolled her eyes "Because somepony took it and now I'm bringing it back now could you please point your blades away from your captain."

The pony flinched "Captain Maple! I'm so sorry Ma'am I've never met you in person."

Maple laughed "It's fine. However if I was stealing it why would I be going into the castle?" She walked off before hearing any sort of response.

Shadow dreamt of his life again, it seemed to be the one thing he can't get away from. After a few minutes, he woke up to escape it and headed down the stairs to get a drink. He heard a noise behind, then he sighed and he said as he reached for a knife and thinking that it's a changeling, "If it's you or one of your subjects. I'm not becoming a king for you all to survive." He turned around to see that a rabbit was standing there. He placed the knife down, grabbed the rabbit and said, "No, you're not allowed in here, no pets are allowed."

After dropping off the spirit Maple had gone home. When Luna asked who had it, Maple respond with "I just sorta found it." She felt terrible for lying to Luna but technically she wasn't seeing as shadow set it outside so She could have found it if they hadn't been friends. She landed in front of the door to see shadow with a rabbit.

Shadow looked up to see Maple, then he said as he placed it outside, and moved it along, "Hey, how did Luna react to it? Hopefully, you or I didn't get in trouble for it." He walked back into the kitchen to grabbed the bottle and took a gulp of it.

"Luna was perfectly fine with it I just told her I found it." She said "The guards outide however... They all thought I was stealing it but I just told them who I was and why I had it and they realized it was ok." She glanced shadow again. "Get any sleep?"

Shadow nodded and said, "A few minutes, just a dream that's interesting, but it got bored quickly. I might try again in a little bit after I try something." He took a gulp of wine, before heading to the armory to get some wax. He got into his room and placed the wax on the armor. Instead of making it shine, it grew duller.

Maple was a bit confused but hey it was his set of armor. Maple personally preferred her Purple and gold Captain armor to look shiny and new as often as it could. The armor it's self didn't mean much to her more of the position and how good she felt wearing it. "What'cha doing?"

Shadow placed the wax down and said, "I'm giving it a little of my personality, but it comes off if it doesn't work. A new but old kind of look to it." Then he picked it back up and finished with it. Once he was done, it still looked like it was newly made, but at the same time, looked like it seen things figuratively. He cleaned up his mess and placed it back on the mannequin along with his sword.

Maple looked at the armor. She knew what he meant by that she could just feel the personality of his looking at the armor after he finished it. "Looks nice." She told him "It's defiantly your armor." She put emphasis on the Your part of her sentence.

Shadow nodded and said as he stretched, "I'm going to try to get some rest, night." He was a bit confused, but he didn't really care. He got into his bed and fell asleep. He dreamt of his life, but this time of all the ponies he met.
