Glitched ToH trying to recorrect timelines? Sunset and Starlight

Looking back at "A Royal Problem", it seems pretty clear that the cutie map was glitched and sent the wrong pony to work out the situation.

(Twilight specifically says in The Cutie Map “the tree, the chest, this castle...and now the map-” (all of which- including their thrones, were given to, and accomplished by the mane 6. Not Starlight in any event.) “-how can WE not follow it?”) so why would it have called Starlight, unless it was glitched, from the point where she altered with it and restored it, re-syncing it with the mane 6's cutie thrones? (in addition to HER OWN magic)

When you think about it, it makes more sense than having Starlight. Sunset Shimmer is supposed to be the true bridge between the sisters- between day and night. Day (Celestia) gives way to Sunset, Sunset gives way to Twilight, and Twilight gives way to the night (Luna). Only then, with the night’s emergence, comes Starlight. Its the natural harmonic order of things since the dawn of time. But with Starlight in the picture, that harmony has been thrown off- where Sunset Shimmer was destined to be the natural bridge between night and day (along with Twilight, and the two would’ve eventually ascended to rule together when Celestia and Luna could no longer), that was altered when Sunset left for the human world. And while Starlight seems to be the equal to Twilight, its not meant to be that way, I think.

Destiny was thrown out of whack from the very instance in EqG movie 1 (or rather, the Fall of Sunset Shimmer IDW comic), where Sunset went through the mirror to the human world, the balance was tipped- a pony in Equestria was no longer there, and existed in a world where she didn’t belong.

What if the world, or rather, the Tree of harmony, is out to kill Starlight Glimmer? The Tree is not only a sentient being, but the only constant in jacked up timelines and alternate universes. What if IT is making dangers befall SG to correct the damage she’s done? What if she’s not supposed to exist in the world that we see FiM take place in, and so the Tree is trying to correct matters, because it’s Sunset who is supposed to be there? When a person who isn’t supposed to exist forces his way into a world where they do, he’s treated as a foreign body. So if SG isn’t supposed to be alive, in order to maintain consistency, the world of FiM is trying to eliminate her, while bringing Sunset back to it.

Starlight seemingly has been handed a fate that puts her in situations where her magic is lessened or nonexistant- like it should be if she was in the human world. In spite of all her magical power as a foal when she was with Sunburst- a stack of books nearly toppled onto her, and her magic didn’t come to the rescue. In the village where she first appears- not only do the residents there celebrate the SUNSET festival, but in “the Cutie Map”, Starlight refrains from showing off her magic, to keep her ideology “we don’t flaunt our special talents because we don’t have any special talents to flaunt”. In the season 5 finale, she messes with the cutie map- which is connected to the ToH, using a spell by Starswirl to go back in time and change history, which could’ve only been done through the tree’s will, itself, BECAUSE Starlight was messing with time and history, and could’ve been the opportunity it wanted to re-align Starlight with its will. When that failed, however, it was likely the twig’s influence through Twilight to have Starlight’s first friendship lesson be in the Crystal empire, where Celestia put the original mirror to the human world- to allow the empire in peril through the shattering of the heart, and for SG to potentially be destroyed with the freezing over of the empire while everyone else evacuated the city, or planning for Celestia to call Sunset back through the mirror, to help the situation. “No Second Prances” had Twilight’s lesson for SG to do things without using magic. Mrs. Cake got on her for using magic. Big Mac and Apple Jack got on her for using magic, too, all while trying to get her and “the humble and penitent Trixie” during her “repentance tour” to be friends.

In “Spice up your life”, Starlight (and Twilight) were seen “fixing” the cutie map, and it still being glitched even after (the short cutie mark location spazz) More on that later. “Every little thing she does” had Spike and Applejack attempting to tell her to not use magic in establishing friendship lessons, which she sees, regrets, (and admits to) instantly after casting combined spells on her friends, though she goes along with it, as planned, anyway. “To where and back again”, we see that she needs to adapt to not using her magic in the Changeling Hive. “All Bottled Up” had her coming to learn that she shouldn’t use magic. As did “A Royal Problem”, though she was rewarded and given confirmation that her impulse to use magic to switch the cutie marks of the highest commanding rulers of the country was a good call. Whereas Sunset has continually been given Equestrian magic directly from the source (FiM) throughout the EqG movies, which is fitting, because Equestria (FiM) is where she rightfully belongs.

I'd say the Cutie Map possesses secrets that Twilight hasn't figured out to use--or knew they existed--resulting in what ended up happening. Still, an interesting theory and one that could be expanded upon if that is indeed the case.

It sent the right character. Sunset's destiny is with the human equivalents and Starlight is Twilight's pupil. I'm all in favor of Barthes, but you can't completely toss out authorial intent simply for wish fulfillment.

This is a well thought-out, albeit convoluted, Theory but it misses two very important thematic elements in the show.

I have to wonder why after all this time, she hasn't put more interest in studying it, and at least trying to explain some of what's been happening in relation to this theory, since we know it has happened, in part.

Geez, that was the most convoluted theory I've ever read and it's crazy. So crazy, it just might be true. That or you're overthinking way too much, dude.

am I? AM I?!?! I don't think I am, given all the canon shenanigans we've seen thus far that lean toward this being right

Considering how often she's at her castle, I'm wondering about it myself.

considering how she's also shown to be passionate about studying everything, rather than specialize in one subject
