"But... they know who I am though. They claim to know where I am from, who I am. Maybe they know why I have no fangs like a batpony, why I don't hiss like a batpony, why I don't usually eat mangos like a batpony. Maybe they know why I look at animals and feel a strange urge to chase them or why I have a sense of territory unlike most ponies."

The tone in his voice clearly showed how much he wanted to know these things.

Somnus noticed a bird standing on the ground and looked at it. He seemed troubled as if trying to resist going after it.

Ruby didn't say anything, she didn't see any reason to, and she didn't notice any struggle in Somnus because she was keeping her focus on Calti who again tried to catch something, only to fail and go back to sneaking.

Somnus couldn't hold it anymore, he quickly jumped at the bird. He caught the bird and looked it.

"Maybe just one little bite... No, I'm not supposed to do that."

He continued to look at the bird debating whether or not to follow his impulse.

Ruby looked at Somnus blinking surprised, but again she didn't say anything about it since as far as she knew, he could be acting, something that she did a lot, and like the the saying goes liars think everyone is a liar "Probably should kill it and take the feathers off first if you're gonna eat it, until of course you like feathers and pecking wounds in your mouth, I won't judge."

Somnus had a look in his eye as if some sort of instinct took over. He twisted the bird's neck and ate the bird. Sure, he coughed up a few feathers, but other than that he was fine. Maybe a little bit shaken, but still fine.

"Most ponies would throw up due to not being meant to eat meat, but it feels as if I'm supposed to eat it."

He looked at Ruby.

"See what I mean? This is why I need to know the truth about who I am."

I still don't think they are tricking me though. They really don't need to since I'm really of no use to them. I mean, the ones from the bigger kingdom might be something to worry about, but the wyverns from the smaller kingdom are more friendly."

Again Ruby didn't say anything.

"There's always birds around." She stated, but was cut off by a sound of bird's alarm that was also cut short, and soon Calti came out of the bushes beaming with pride, dragging a bird that was bigger than her. Ruby looked bit surprised and turned to her pony form, then walking to Calti and petting her with a faint smile on her face, and after a soundless conversation between the two, Calti started happily eating her first prey.

"I doubt that, I'm all for bravery but she'll never be big enough to do that." Ruby stated

"I don't know, cats can be crazy. I once saw a cat running around the castle, and this cat was pretty mean. None of the guards wanted to challange that thing."

Somnus headed back to the campsite and waited for Ruby.

"Well, you ponies aren't really naturally equipped to fight a cat like something like wolves are." Ruby simply said after Somnus.
It took fem minutes for Calti to eat her bird, and after she was done and thoroughly cleaned, she climbed on Ruby and they made their way to the campsite.

"I think something destroyed the tent. We can do one of two things. Use some branches to build a small shelter or we can find a nearby cave. Of course whatever destroyed the tent probably lives in that cave, but considering how I'm wearing armor and have a spear, and you're a dragon... I don't think it will be anything to worry about."

"I personally don't need a shelter" Ruby said "I can sleep outside in my real form, so it's really up to you what you want to do." sure a cave would have been a nice place to sleep in, but she really didn't mind sleeping outside, because in worst case scenario it would rain, and that didn't really bother her.

Somnus started to head over to a cave that was nearby. Somnus decided the cave would be a smarter option.

Ruby just shrugged and walked after Somnus, but when the cave was on the view, she turned into her real form and stepped over Somnus and going past him, going in before him to check if something was living in there.

Somnus followed Ruby when she went ahead of him. There was an ursa major. Somnus readied his spear.

Ruby to her usual manner tried to first threaten the creature, Ursas were bit tricky because being magical creatures, killing them wasn't as straight forward as with other creatures, so even though it most likely wouldn't be able to harm Ruby too much, this could end up to a defeat due to its size.

Ruby just shrugged and filled the cave with fire, she didn't know if it would do anything to creature like this, because she was bit behind with studying creatures, but if nothing else it would annoy it.

The creature was only annoyed by the fire. Fluffball jumped out of the saddlebag and seemed pretty angry. That ursa major woke him up and he was not going to allow it.

The ursa stomped on Fluffball only to jump in pain. It was like a pony stomping on solid metal. As for Fluffball, he was fine, but even more angry.

And Somnus? Although Fluffball could never be hurt by the ursa, he was still mad that the thing would even think of messing with his hamster.

"Alright, that thing is going down."

a short laugh of amusement came out of Ruby when fluffball did his part, Calti too had joined the battle, but she not being indestructible, she was mostly there to annoy the ursa since she was way too quick for it to do anything to her. "Sorry magic bear, you should have just listened when I told you to leave." she said sounding almost bored as she moved quickly to attack the creature.
