Does being a "Fandom fan" limit potential?

A friend just told me he's more of a fandom fan these days and he kind of dropped out of keeping up with the new episodes after The Washouts. But does this actually limit artistic potential if someone doesn't keep up to date with the show?

It actually expands it. Once you devise a solution for white knights and staff bootlickers you can ensure freedom of expression. Fully committing to that would destroy the Brony fandom and transform it into Ponygate ;) However, that transformation depends on the talent of our artists. Are they capable of creating a vision that resonates with a lot of people? I think not. Not yet.

Heck no! Contrary to popular belief, the series itself is not the 'be all, end all'. If anything, avoiding the series produces greater artistic potential and talent. With your own imagination, you don't need to be limited by what worldbuilding or character development the series offers, and do things according to your own ideas. You could turn your attention to the toyljne, books, or comics, and flesh out characters from there, or involve your own in a timeline or world of your own creation. I think it is far more opportunistic and creative not to follow the show.

I think so. Anyone denying future episodes in favor of their own ideas will limit their audience of their work. One fan of the show much watch it until the end. If you are an artist living off pony drawings, then what to do when someone asks to draw a future pony for them huh?
