Some of y'all might have seen this article https://io9.gizmodo.com/one-of-anime-s-biggest-voices-accused-of-sexual-harassm-1832390505

It's interesting that he doesn't refute any of the encounters themselves, just whether they were consensual or not. I think his quote at the end says a lot about his mindset: “If I’m a jerk and you don’t tell me so, then you’re consenting to me being a jerk. See how that works? If somebody is doing something you don’t approve of and you don’t say anything... the implication is that you must be okay with it.”

And it's a hack fake news article that is only regurgitating old hearsay that has already been debunked. :mlp_maud:

The writer of it also has ties to Channel Awesome's MarzGurl, who is notorious for spreading false information and threats of false flagging #KickVic critics, and the video Singe posted shows that she had an ulterior motive in starting the #KickVic movement, to save her dying career. The article cites no legitimate documentation other than out-of-context quotes. Of course he was going to defend the encounters as consensual because there is nothing wrong with hugging and kissing people on the cheek with their consent. As someone who has jokingly played the character of a jerk with other VA's at conventions, that comment about him "being a jerk with consent" was likely just a reference to such, and even if it wasn't, it's a good point on how people who are genuinely bothered by something need to speak up about it openly rather than waiting for the "right time to strike" on the internet. :yeahno:

Can I just ask people defending Vic why they're inclined to believe the word of one person over the many people that have spoken out against him? Statistically speaking it's highly highly improbable that all of them are lying. What ulterior motive would hundreds of fans have in order to falsely accuse a specific voice actor?

Getting recognized by famous people who support mob mentality. You accuse the right guy in this day and age, it's an easy fast pass to attention and applause for "heroism".

I'm sorry to be blunt but in my opinion that's a really weak argument and unfair to accusers. You have absolutely no evidence that these countless people are making up stories of sexual assault for attention and applause. I'm aware that you could make a similar argument with regard to a lack of evidence for the veracity of their stories, but as I said before, on the basis of probability I'm much more inclined to believe the voices of the many. Of course it should also be noted that the vast majority of sexual assault allegations end up being true.

I've said everything that's on my mind and we probably won't agree so I'm going to stop after this

You're going to look at every post I've made in this thread about proof of #KickVic supporters falsifying evidence and just write everything off as me having absolutely no evidence? And as if there aren't many voices defending Vic that you are not being respectful to? As if you're not being unfair to the accused?

Oh yeah, we are definitely done here. I do not debate people who put feelings before facts. :maud:

News came out that is suggesting Vic making a move and getting a lawyer. Finally if this goes forward it can be settled in a court like it's suppose to be.

Good, I want this to be left up to justice at this point. No point in repeating the same arguments over and over (even if I can throw in a new one by saying that it's also statistically improbable for 100 people to accuse Vic and not one of them having a good piece of evidence against him). That's one criticism I have with the #IStandWithVic side. We should only be updating this issue with important, relevant information. There is also no use in fighting with people about this, let's just let real justice handle this.

It's official from Vic's own tweet. He's got a lawyer and will take the fight to court.

This also really sheds more doubt on his guilt. If he was guilty, why try to fight this in court instead of trying to sweep it under the rug? However, I, as someone who is not going to make any conclusive judgment on the situation before the court settlement, am not bumping this to shill for Vic, in fact, it's quite the opposite...

Sean Schemmel, one of the VA's who threw Vic under the bus, actually reached out to someone defending Vic to try and get their side of the story. Not saying there's no ulterior motive, that this couldn't possibly be a PR stunt to win back his reputation, but I do feel the man at least deserves some credit for showing the most integrity out of anyone in the Funimation crew so far by actually making an effort to listen to the other side's argument.

@CloudMistDragon

I would chalk up any shift in the tone of #KickVic VAs on social media for a truce to be from the pressure on them. One Vic got a lawyer. Two they are threatened of losing money as news of one of their #KickVic VA friends got dropped from cons.

That friend being Nick Rekieta, a lawyer out of Minnesota that does various analysis streams on different lawsuits involving Internet personalities. He suggested Vic should lawyer up during his analysis of the case, even going as far as to start a GoFundMe to help him out.

Honestly, I think things like #MeToo can be used for good if used in the right way, but everyone's gotten so hyped up that you could literally accuse anyone and have their careers ruined, even if the claims aren't true in the slightest bit.
