To answer your question... Rarity is nice , but nowhere near iconic at all. It won't be hard to make a better character.

Rarity is best Mane 6, but she’s not iconic. Iconic is when you get to the point where people that don’t know anything about the show still know the character’s name.

Rainbow Dash is more likely to be iconic, since she’s EVERYWHERE on merch.

Pinkie Pie is the iconic generation 4 character in my opinion. She was the only pony I was aware of before I was a fan due to her use in internet memes. And I doubt there will be any pony as memorable as her in the next generation.

Rainbow Dash is the most iconic, but I'm going to give a shout out to Applejack for hanging on as long as she has from Generation 1. I don't remember the brand but I was in a Safeway recently and found these juice bottles with character heads for the lids and straw bit, and I found all of the main six except for her, and there were even chrome colored versions! I know she's the least popular main pony when it comes to merchandise but even for juice when cider and apples is her whole thing?

Those drinks are called Good2Grow and there is an Applejack one. My daughters have them all.
