mega thread How are you feeling?

Alright I've calmed down now, the issue with my One Driver had been fixed. I deleted the folder then resynced it. Thank goodness that worked, because if it hadn't I would've been out of patience with Windows altogether and had already been on my Linux system. My advice is if file encryption has to be used at all, use a tool that lets you access it with a password like with archive based tools such as Winzip or z7ip, don't use any other, it's not worth the hassle.

Spoiler

Found out a few days ago, concurred with sibling, that my mother is a man-hater. Which makes sense as how just today she's writing in her book she's writing, she's going into how the usual "Men don't think" trope in it. When I bring it up (I'm a man), I'm told to "Not take it to seriously. If I'm to continue to take it too seriously, I can not read it". There re other signs before this too that helped drive it home, one glaring moment years ago how when my father and I were trying to move something for her, while he was in a chair looking at us reading a book. When we were explaining to her how it couldn't fit in a certain spot in the house, she went with the "Typical men" throw back. Talk about emotional whiplash to hear that coming from your own mother. Makes you second guess what else she says and does now or in the future. How much is that tainted by her anti-men feelings.

I am dying, it has been an exceptionally productive day but I only got about an hour or two of sleep because of the early start this morning. yEVVyCT.png

Well, luckily for you, we here are not like that, as a girl, I have a guy friend who is an awesome person, and just because I have a brother who's an ass, doesn't mean all guys are.

In fact, half my OCs outside of the MLP fandom are in fact, guys. I find it harder to write guy characters for MLP then I do to make human or humanoid guy characters.

I hold on to the fact that most of my friends circle (online or off.) Are mostly women online. And pretty ALL women IRL, and most of my co-workers are women as well. I use that knowledge to try and not become like her, hate one gender over another. Being heavily socialized as I am is a great bulwark against that I find, just to bad many people are not as fortunate, my mother sadly included.

It is quite common. I happen to hear more often that "it's because I am a man" or "you think that women must/can't do something", even from my mum. I am not surprised since it really used to be that way in the past... and still is in some places. Thinking this way is very stereotypical, but it is also based on someone's experience :worry:

I do not fall into the line of mysoginy either, just because individual people of that gender are bad doesn't mean all of them are.

When I make MLP characters it's easy to write girl characters because they are prominent in the show, but outside of MLP I find guy characters easier to write because of my tomboyish-ness.

Hawker is my only male OC. The rest of mine are girls/mares. I find it easier to interact with those of my opposite sex, the reasons why I'll DM you so as not to blow this out of proportion. Also, to make a spin form the Matt Smith's doctor: Tomboys are cool.

My problem of our species is not a gender thing, abrasive and aggressive behaviour is a matter of sadism or ignorance above all else.

Sure, not all humans are dangerous, but there's enough toxicity in this world to make me wish I could be reborn in the fictional world Equestria G4 as a Pegasi. MLP FIM, without the plot induced stupidity of Equestria Girls involved, is a fairly benign community that do make an effort to solve problems without making violence their first option every time, and I find it hard to believe Princess Celestia would want to jeopardize the safety of her kingdom by making her subjects aware of the existence of the human world, that is like opening the gates of Hell, yes she makes mistakes sometimes, however from what I've seen of the show, that is beneath her.

Why does she feel that way? When I observe women making these declarations it tends to be strange generalisations because in reality they are either deeply unhappy with their partners and don't feel free to directly state as such so it comes out as "general hatred of men", or from traumatic experiences from exes or fathers they never addressed. Idiotic simplistic messaging from society about women being x or men being y in media can heavily contribute but the issue but the problem usually seems primarily emotional in nature... Or she just never questions media messaging she absorbs that generalises genders, lol.

From what I gathered from her, her brother an father were.....evil to say the least. Neither supported her or acted as loving family member to her.

Well, that might be it then. Unaddressed anger at perpetrators misdirected at randoms with vague resemblances to them.  *shrug*

A little bit sad, to be honest, but it is good to take some time now to reflect on everything. All is still well.

My family knows that she has a bad habit or raging at others, randos or family, when things go wrong. We suggested getting therapy, but she insisted on using the horse. Now that the horse has died, she has made no mentions of therapy. And I grew tired of offering it and being told no.

...did you mean she beat the horse to DEATH?! :eww:

In all seriousness if she wants to be bitter and nasty it's her funeral I guess...

I was thinking people typically beat dead horses over living ones. 0Btjywg.png Typically. Don't tell her you're a pony, or a brony. PAw3zUt.png

I may watch Freddy vs Jason movie in a moment, that's what I do when I'm angry sometimes, watch horror movies, and I know the blood is fake, so the phobia of blood does not trigger as much with them, at least not with A Nightmare on Elm St movies, although there have been a few scenes I still turn away from, such as part 1 movie where blood erupted out of Glen's bed like a volcano from Hell.

Both are acceptable. She knows and accepts it. Plus I can run faster than her. :grin2:

In seriousness, perhaps if she had seen the show, and joined the fandom, it' help her a lot. But, she's not into it.
