Landi 600 February 20, 2021 Share February 20, 2021 I don't think the fandom is dead, though I will say that it has been on the decline for a while now. The show peaked around 2012 and 2013 and it steady declined after that. Then, when season eight and nine came around, it declined a bit more drastically than before. Same thing happened after the show ended. And depending on the quality of g5, it could decline even more. All this being said, I don't think the fandom will truly die for a while. It's become a staple to many, and seems to still attract some people, even to this day. ExplosionMare 18,062 February 20, 2021 Share February 20, 2021 The only thing I’ve noticed is that people are more centered around OCs than they were before. Or maybe that’s just me 2 Boom!
Kantet 180 September 23 Share September 23 It's been 3 years since this topic was first discussed. I joined the Brony fandom last year and yes, it's a bit of a bummer when you join after the peak and can only look at what was created before you. Yes, the fandom is in decline now: First, MLP's popularity began to decline after 2016-2017, as this is a natural decline in interest in something. Second, the end of the series itself caused a decline in activity, because to maintain the fandom's activity, some kind of permanent and official content is needed. Third, the complete failure of G5 had a negative effect on the fandom. As a result of the failure, almost no new people came to the fandom, and there was another split within the fandom. Well, and besides, it was a blow to the franchise as a whole. After G4, there were high demands on G5, and it did not live up to any expectations. Fourth, there was less activity from the members of the fandom itself. BUT DON'T BE DESPAIRY! I WILL GIVE YOU HOPE! G4(FiM) created a large universe in the pony world, which can be developed further. In addition, the show itself has grown a large audience that is familiar with MLP, a very large fandom, from which in the future people can come out who can create one of the next generations of MLP (G6, G7, G8, etc.), which will become as popular as G4(FiM), and even surpass it in popularity. Or another studio will do it, not Hasbro, but someone else from the fans. Again, there are all the reasons and prerequisites for such an outcome. Rafa Stary 2,987 September 23 Share September 23 The fandom will continue living, no matter how poorly Hasbro continues treating the IP 2 "Stand quiet like the Sky, and Move faster than Lightning" Follower of the ultimate power, spirit, divine dreams and wishes of the Heavenly Angels of Stars (Starys), Husband of Mary Stary, Angel of Power and Spirit. Rethajni 2,657 September 23 Share September 23 Fandoms dont usually die, unless ALL bronies would forget completly MLP and throw everything they got from them and completly go to another fandom which is impossible, specially for a show that has made a huge impact in our lives, pehaps is not the hype as it used to be, nothing really is, but people cant deny that mlp has change so much our lives to simply let it go and forget about it. I remembered back in 2013 the brony cons, how there were brony musicians, brony games, brony animations and brony art in general and while you can tell me that they are still doing it, is not as much as it was before. So no, the fandom is not dead, it just went passive from what it was back in the 2010s 53 minutes ago, Kantet said: It's been 3 years since this topic was first discussed. You think that, if Hasbro decided to continue G4 as it were the fandom can reborn or at least make a difference from what we have now?? 2 Please check my GIF shop! https://mlpforums.com/topic/199911-open-rethajnis-ych-comission-shop/#comment-6247435

I did not write anything about the continuation of G4. I wrote that if Hasbro or some other fan studio shoots a series that will be as good as G4(FiM), then our fandom will experience a second dawn and the popularity of the new generation of MLP can surpass even the popularity of G4. DebonedAngel 196 September 23 Share September 23 I've been in the fandom since 2011-ish, and while I do think it's declined, a lot, it's still much much bigger than most similar fandoms, and it's not really shrinking that much, if anything, there's been a little bit of a bump in activity in the past year or so from what I've seen, and from what my sister tells me she sees on ticktock. I don't think we'll ever see the fandom as big as it was in the mid teens, no, but I do very much think that the fandom is safe and secure as it is.

And yes, I believe that it is possible to revive the fandom, since there are prerequisites for this. Even more than just reviving. Raising it to the top once again.
TransitPony 238 September 27 Share September 27 This fandom is far from dead. There's still artwork and fanfiction being made (speaking of fanfiction I got to get back to writing on a crossover I started back a few years ago), new art of the G4 ponies are still being seen everywhere, plushies and pins are still being sold. So it's not dead. It's gone through some though times lately with the fascism problem and pedophile problem, but there's still good people in the fandom out there keeping it alive.
