I first heard of valedictorians and salutatorians of their high school graduating classes since 2017, which I'm practically interested in students who are or became valedictorians and salutatorians (top two ranking graduates) at the point. In general, the valedictorian is a high school student or graduate of their graduating class with the highest GPA (grade point average) possible as I heard from my aunt first, and the salutatorian is a student with the second-highest GPA just behind the valedictorian. In graduation commencement ceremonies, both the salutatorian and then the valedictorian addresses their salutatory and valedictory speeches in their high school graduating classes respectively. I wonder who signed up on MLP Forums that one of you graduated high school as a valedictorian or a salutatorian? This is a unique subject to ask here.

In my speculation of this subject in Equestria, I would imagine that Twilight Sparkle attended Princess Celestia's School for Gifted Unicorns and may have graduated as a valedictorian from there, because Twilight Sparkle was said to be Princess Celestia's top student. Twilight Sparkle is worth the intelligence of studying magic. In Canterlot High School in Equestria Girls, the valedictorian or a salutatorian was not named nor mentioned.

Not really a general topic to me.

Princess Twilight Sparkle always do legendary stuff with magic in Equestria. Time to blast from the past.

My school didn't actually do valedictorians. The closest thing they had to that was a gold tassel they gave to everyone graduating with a 3.0 GPA or higher (imo that's a little too easy to do. I think about 1/3 of my graduating class had a higher GPA than that).

I was not, but I still graduated with honors. I went to a big school so there was a lot of competition. I took a total of 7 AP classes and that was on the low side compared to the students at the top :P

I wasn’t lol I did average in school.

What was interesting is our valedictorian I’d never even seen before. I never seen him around the school or anything. I was kinda shocked when they announced him since I thought, well we all thought really, it was going to be this other girl.

No. I was a very mediocre student in high school. Add that with the fact that I was taking math back then, which I'm terrible at, I did not have the best grades.

I got my Bachelor's degree with one of the honors for that level, though.

Nope.  I barely graduated, and that's only because I fudged enough of my absences to be 'excused' that I still qualified under the attendance policy.

Ha! My school didn't even have a graduation ceremony. We were just sent home during a random school day and told to only come back for each exam. A short while after all the exams, we were just told to come and collect our results. Literally "Here are your results! Now goodbye!" Rankings didn't mean anything. They just stuck us on the papers that they felt we had the best chance of passing on and that was that. I don't even refer to that place as a formal education because it was literally just one bad joke.

No I wasn't.

I pulled together a B to B+ ish average by the time I graduated.

I got into a school that made a lot of kids who thought they were smarter than me give me the satisfaction of visibly cringing when they heard where I was going.

I then proceeded to complete both a Bachelor's and Master's degrees with B++ averages.

And I've never made a cent off of all my education, and am still tens of thousands of dollars in debt.

In point of fact, I would do it all over again, because if I wouldn't, then I wouldn't even be me. It's a nonsensical question, would I do it all over again, of course I would.

What have I learned? Don't peak in high school, and don't peak in college either. Academic honors have their merit, but they do not directly relate to either a fat paycheck or to fame. They can grease gears a little, maybe, they add polish and pizzazz, but they never seal the deal. Imho, of course, but I went to school with many great intellects who now work jobs I wouldn't even pretend to try and abide.

We didn't have those here in Aus when I was in school, but could be different now. Even if we did, no, I wouldn't have come close to earning one of those accolades. I was a terrible student in my final few years. :P

At first I rejected the zero, but that was because I simply didn't understand it. Now I do.

Noa.

Related story, was disappointed because I was in the top 5% (was 22), but I slipped into 26 at the very end, so while I was still recognized, I didn't get the medal that came with the placement :U ...
