Otter 1,942 June 8, 2012 Share June 8, 2012 I couldn't find a topic on this, so I apologize if one already existed. Have any of you who use an internet blocker ever found it to be beneficial? For example, I (unwillingly) use CloudCare, and I can't recall a single instance where it actually helped me avoid a dangerous site. It's full of incorrect categorizations, so it blocks perfectly legitimate and safe sites. I can't stand it. I would like nothing more than to uninstall it, but my dad wouldn't see it from my point of view. He would just say, "It's keeping you safe!". how even is otter and how can it be if
letterone 1,204 June 8, 2012 Share June 8, 2012 I used to use one. It blocked really stupid stuff. For instance I was on a Sonic wiki and it blocked the page for Casino Night Zone because it had to do with casinos. That's just... no. It's ironic how I fall just to get back up again... Bohtty 1,775 June 8, 2012 Share June 8, 2012 Hahahhahahahahaha those blocker programs are useless xD you would be fine with a decent anti virus program and some logical thinking Legit signature made by Shift.
Evilshy 5,090 June 8, 2012 Share June 8, 2012 I still have AV, I just don't use anything to filter websites before I go to them, because I can generally tell if something is legit or not. And in 10+ years of Internet browsing, I've gotten maybe 2 viruses, both of which my AV picked up on and got rid of fairly quickly. Signature now 99% less edgy! A Blithering Div 247 June 8, 2012 Share June 8, 2012 The only blocker I used to use was NoScript, a javascript blocker add-on for Firefox. Worked well, but I found it annoying so I stopped using it. Haven't had a problem since so whether or not it did anything is up in the air. I can neither confirm nor deny myself being the cause of electrical related malfunctions. Anyways, you wouldn't happen to have a jar of replacement magic smoke would you?
Rochambo 88 June 9, 2012 Share June 9, 2012 (edited) I don't have "an internet blocker" I do however use Comodo Secure DNS Which is meant for preventing me from connecting to a malicious website. It is very good at doing its job, however, some trolls reported Equestriadaily and now it's being blocked. Easy to bypass, but a nuisance nonetheless. Example of the way it works: Edited June 9, 2012 by Rochambo
