I got a slideshow cycling between these two wallpapers now (Octavia, DJ, yay!)

Every 30 minutes, of course. The windows also change between their blue and pink automatically too (its probably one of the best Windows 8 features)

I think it would be better if it was showing a BSOD on the TV.

Any who heres my new and improved desktop. Last one was Rocketdock and the Taskbar.

Now with an awesome combination with Rainmeter, and Rocketdock!

The Great and Powerful Trixie will now show my desktop.

Is that Windows 8 on 1280x800? You're missing out on snapping man. Well, until Windows 8.1 comes out, anyway.

Nope, Windows 8 on a 1368x768, not counting the rainmeter cause when I run Google Chrome, it doesn't snap to 1280x800.

Oh good. 1366x768 and 1280x800 (and WXGA as a whole, including the not-wide XGA, 1024x768) are horribad resolutions though.

Hmm, I'm using Windows 7, and I'm glad to be missing out on the crap that MS is pulling with Windows 8:

-Added Metro

-Added more unneeded garbage to the explorer

-Removal of Aero

-Various other thing to complain about :P

I'm well aware that there will be ways to customize things on your own, but it's simply not worth it to me. If I ever end up getting a new computer that has it pre-installed it'll be formatted, and have either Ubuntu/Debian or Windows 7 installed on it.

The bottom line is Windows 8 is just like Windows Vista, a screw up. /rant

@: I used a custom theme which modifies the explorer window, and the start menu. It can be found here.

The maker of the theme is kind of a jerk, and refuses to tell anyone how he made it. However I can tell you he used a program called Resource Hacker to do it.

Does it work on windows 8?

@@soniccam1: Probably not.

Since Windows 8 has no Start button or Start Menu for that matter the theme can't modify that. The explorer in Windows 8 is different from the one in Windows 7, so the theme more than likely wouldn't be able to modify that either. Custom Start Menu's for Windows 8 probably will not be compatible with the theme.

TL;DR the theme isn't compatible with Windows 8, and probably won't work.

Thanks. I figured it had to do with the files of windows. I'll play around with it when i'm bored.

OBJECTION! Windows 8 is nothing like Vista - in fact, it's closer to a reskinned 7 than Vista 2.0. On that note, Windows 7 is Vista 2.0, Windows 8 is Vista 3.0 and Windows 8.1 is Vista 3.1 - all use the same codebase as Vista, just with modifications to reduce bugs, improve performance and reduce memory usage. It's too bad that people like you have to fall for the tech press' lies and spread them further, because I use Windows 8 and it's anything but a screw-up.

Also, since I have a Windows 8 tablet now, I've been offloading Metro apps off of my laptop and onto my tablet. This is what my laptop's Start looks like right now. (Link because it's a huuuuuuuuuuuuge image file, 5181x1080 and weighing over 3MB in size)

If you're a desktop, or laptop user, than Windows 8 isn't a needed upgrade by an means. For theming, and customization it isn't good enough for me.

Granted it does perform slightly better, but they removed a lot of features i liked. Windows 8 is clearly targeting tablet users like yourself, but they forgot about people who have desktops/laptops. Most people I know don't like having a giant, bulky Metro user interface with a bunch of bs on it. On top of that they removed Aero, and further screwed up the explorer by adding more bulky [and less than useful] features to it.

Once Windows 8 is opened up a bit more by modders, than maybe I might give Windows 8 a second chance.

Features? You mean... these? And these? And what about booting to desktop, a Start button and the ability to avoid the Metro interface, which are being added in Windows 8.1, due to be released some time after August? Also, I'm a gamer, I mean, look at my specs, this is a gaming laptop I'm on, so I don't really know what you mean by "Windows 8 is clearly targeting tablet users like yourself". Although on that note I do own a Windows 8 tablet, an Asus VivoTab Smart, but primarily I use a MSI GT60 0ND gaming laptop as that goes above and beyond my needs. Explorer, btw, isn't really that much different than the Windows 7 Explorer, just with the Ribbon interface, and I use it about as much as I did the old interface; when I want to change stuff I go to Folder Options instead!

On a further note, I can navigate through Metro without a problem with a mouse and keyboard... took only five minutes to learn how to. It's not that hard, honestly.

Well ofc there will be a bloody control panel, and administrator tools.

When I said, "Windows 8 is clearly targeting tablet users like yourself" I meant exactly what I said. The Metro interface is large, and is easy for you to touch (with a touch screen compatible device, duh), and a lot of things (mainly in the interface department) clearly were made in mind with those who'd be on a tablet.

My only gripe with Metro is that it's bulky as hell, and you currently cannot disable unless you use an external tool. Overall, Windows 8 looks ok, but I really wish that MS wasn't trying to force the Metro garbage down our throats so much. The least they could have done was given users the option to disable it, or something like that. Probably the biggest thing that ticks me off is the fact that they are removing Aero.
