Is there any way to recognize blind bags now that they removed the numbers?

Today, me and two of my brony friends went to walmart in search of blind bags, we did find them but could not find the numbers (they were not in their usual spots under the tab thing) So we just grabbed randomly and I got Sparkly Pinkie, Sparkly Twilight, and Roseluck and my friends got random background characters (I felt bad for one of them who didn't have any merch. at the time so I sold him the Twilight).

Anyways, is there any way to recognize the pony within the bag besides using the numbers or feeling the bag (because that didn't work either)?

Gee....I hope they aren't taking away the identification feature on those things, that could really damage their marketing...

I always hate it when I get a Hot Wheels diecast, and the name isn't printed on the bottom. I really hate that. Nowadays, if I wanna look them up or something, I have to give it the ol’ rough guess as to what it is... I think they're should be some serial number code system to identify the series and model by a certain number pattern imprinted on the bottom of the toys. Then they could be easily looked up by their specific code, and there could also be a mini database for that on the Wiki. Unfortunately, they haven't been doing that, so the feeling of collection is kinda ruined... :/

I think they always do that for every single card in Yu-Gi-Oh, I think.

Speaking of which....they could always have a serial number code system with the MLP trading card sets they're going to release.

I read somewhere that they didn't remove the numbers entirely, but in a sad attempt at being clever, they "re-coded" the numbers. Except they were stupid. Not clever. The original bag numbers were the second and third digits in the recoded bag numbers. Or something like that. I read it on the interwebs SOMEWHERE...I think ED? Do a google search, it's there. And I did find blind bags that confirmed that they recoded the bags, but y'know. Since I had em all already +50 extra that I'm baiting for customs, I didn't need to waste mah cash trying to figure out if the interwebs were true ^^;
