StarHeart333 1,765 May 3, 2024 Share May 3, 2024 So, when it comes to anime movies or shows what are your guilty pleasures? For me it was the series "Dragon goes house hunting." The MC is dragon who is complete wimp.. So much so the other dragons kicked him out when he failed to protect an egg... Hence why he is looking for a new home and his realtor is a demon lord. Now let explain the humor without spoiling the show too much. Imagine a complete noob trying play dark souls and they can barely swing a sword or run. Etc. COMPLETE 100% NOOB. Now, picture the greatest dark souls player EVER helping the noob to build a rep. The player who can beat the game on the highest difficulty, blind folded and using a guitar hero controller level of pro here. Picture the pro player wearing bosses down to 1 hp and then leaving just in time for all the players to see the noob kill this insanely difficult boss like it was nothing. Of course when asked to look into it the game staff determine that the noob never cheated to win. I bet you can picture the fun that noob will have every other player thinks the noob is defeating bosses at level 1 and gets a reputation for being a super master gamer. That is some of the humor in dragon goes house hunting... But enough of my guilty pleasure what are yours ?
Dreambiscuit 9,873 May 4, 2024 Share May 4, 2024 I have a few guilty pleasures when it comes to anime. Gun Gale Online. I don't know why but it's a blast watching acute little pink girl mowing down her enemies with guns, knives and even teeth. Charming. Girls und Panzer. Same deal as Gun Gale. For some reason the theme of girls with heavy weapons is entertaining to me. Good personalities and good battle strategies. Awesome. Love, Chunibyo and Other Delusions. This one truly is a guilty pleasure because the characters are all nuts. But they are supposed to be nuts and that's the beauty of the humor. It uses a lot if terminology that is completely inappropriate, which usually annoys me, but this series is actually making fun of that kind of ignorance and the people who do it. So on that basis I've really come to love the humor of this crazy show.

Samurai Equine 51,741 May 5, 2024 Share May 5, 2024 Guilty pleasures are such an interesting case study. It's only guilty if you are convinced you aren't suppose to enjoy it, but you do anyways. And it makes me wonder what convinces people they aren't suppose to like it. That feeling of shame really does spell out the difference between a guilty pleasure and liking something unironically. I guess for me, it would be the original Tenchi Muyo trilogy (OVA, Universe, and In Tokyo) as well as the movies that go along with them. They are guilty because I know what genre of anime they fall under, and that genre is usually pretty shameless. The Tenchi series has its own set of faults and strengths, but it was there for me in my teen years when I was discovering anime, thanks especially to the classic days of Toonami. However, I've seen spin-offs and other entries, and this franchise just hasn't aged quite well. I'm glad it was still popular to have more shows, but it's just not for me anymore.

Well, some of it can just be a fear of it being taken out of context. In the case of the anime I watched the main character is a bit childish and I mean childish crying tantrums, being super scared and afraid. Keep in mind this character is an adult dragon NOT a little kid. So, without full context it would have been really awkward to try to explain stuff like that hence why it's a bit of guilty pleasure. And even in full context itd still a weird show. So, yeah it can be scenes or character quirks as well.
StardustJessie 36 May 5, 2024 Share May 5, 2024 Any anime with cutesy relationships. I'm kinda secretive about how those types of shows comforts me a lot. I feel embarrassed about it.
Otaku-sempai 493 May 5, 2024 Share May 5, 2024 I"m not sure whether it really qualifies as a "guilty pleasure", but Dirty Pair?
Antiyonder 1,157 May 17, 2024 Share May 17, 2024 I suppose Yu-Gi-Oh (Original and GX), plus the first three Beyblade seasons just cause of the humor of the centered sports being "serious business". Well the English Dub as I haven't seen them in Japan with subs. Still need to check out later material from both. And both properties in particular have legally free means of viewing like TubiTV or official YT accounts.
Misty Shadow 7,902 May 17, 2024 Share May 17, 2024 Beyblade was always something I enjoyed watching even though I was never exactly sure why. I also love Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo, which has a running gag of being self-aware that it's bad and is intended to be enjoyed as a guilty pleasure, being based off a gag manga series. I don't think anyone remembers how insane it actually was, essentially being a YouTube Poop with Teen Titans Go!-style humor done right, but I think it's both ironic and unironic genius. 2 https://www.deviantart.com/frank3dz/art/A-day-to-remember-1140892930 (seriously guys, read this comic, it's hilarious)
Rafa Stary 3,157 May 17, 2024 Share May 17, 2024 Easy, Easy, for aniem series is Dragon Ball GT, always loved it and can't really understand the hate it gets, yeah it's not as good as the other series but it's definitely not bad, actually it got many fans recently but it's still quite infamous I think. For anime movie it's also Dragon Ball, DBZ Movie 11 (Bio Broly) also definitely isn't bad, indeed it's not one of the weakest but it's still a very fun movie with cool moments and action sequences, it's the villain that sucked, but I think the time in which the film was made didn't do them much favor either 2 "Stand quiet like the Sky, and Move faster than Lightning" Follower of the ultimate power, spirit, divine dreams and wishes of the Heavenly Eastern Angels of Stars (Starys), Husband of Mary, The Eastern Stary.
