I hope they produce millions of these.

I hope I can get my hooves on one of these. I read they're only going to be sold at a few conventions and for a short time afterwards on hasbrotoyshop.com.

I hate when companies do this, certainly not buying one. "Hey, we're gonna make an awesome product! What's that? We're going to limit it to torture our consumers and drive up the number buying it? Good idea!"

I can buy a higher quality Derpy plushie online, Hasbro is really showing their greed here. Rather than selling it to the masses, they're just gonna make it hard to come by so everyone who can buy it will.

They've been doing this for a while. Every year they make a special edition pony specifically for Comic Con.

Ugh. If only this wasn't limited to the online market and comic-con. Then I'd be able to get my hands on one of these amazing brushables.

At least Hasbro is able to make Derpy at all. With the soccer moms who complained about Derpy in The Last Roundup, there's no way they'd be able to release Derpy as an official toy to be sold in stores.

This Derpy will be a great addition to my brushable collection... if I can get my hooves on it online. If only they were selling her at Bronycon...

I know, right? I'm going to try to hit up hasbrotoyshop as soon as she shows up on there. She'll probably sell out within minutes.

^What Apple Bloom said. Well, a few posts up, since posts were made while I typed this. :P Convention-exclusives aren't a new thing. Though, I've seen instances where a convention-exclusives end up getting released widespread, but with differences (different numbering, markings, etc.). Doubtful in this case, since My Little Pony isn't a collectable game or anything (where that kind of thing happening isn't unheard of), but I guess you can always hope.

I think it's silly they're doing it like too, but from a business standpoint it kinda makes sense: If it got a widespread release, there would be more exposure on it, and more exposure = more soccer moms whining.

I'm going to check everyday starting July 8... like I said, I hope they've made millions... and that some shitfaced collectors don't buy 100s of them and then sell them back on ebay for 50 bucks each. :/

And why are they doing it? To make a ridiculous profit. The price is 20 dollars, ridiculous for a 50 cent toy. Hasbro is like any other corporation, and I'm sort of sickened by this move.

I would actually buy one for $50. I've seen Fashion Style Rarity and Applejack go even higher than that. As rare as she probably is, I could see her going as high as $100 or more.

It's not that I wouldn't pay $50 (which I probably would now that I'll have my full-time job soon) but I'd rather not if I could avoid it... it's not fair, too, that if people did buy over 100 Derpys and then sold them on ebay for higher prices, it wouldn't be fair to anyone else who would want to buy them from Hasbro, but Hasbro won't care, because they still get their money.

I can understand both sides here. I mean, this discussion is half the reason why they did it in the first place. It piques our attention. It gets people to talk. And then, of course, it gets people to buy, which is the ultimate goal. But, I also understand that someone as loveable as Derpy ought to be made a little more available, if possible.

it's kind of depressing to know she'll be scalped on ebay and other websites.

i'm hoping they'll lower the price on hasbrotoyshop, since it'll basically be mass release after the cons.

Looking forward to this one, but I hope a basic/playful Derpy at least ends up in another TRU "fan-demanded" pack of basics/playfuls later in the year (maybe with Doctor Whooves and a white 5" Celestia among others) if the upcoming pack is a good seller.

Very old news....I will be stalking the Hasbro Toy Shop until I get one. Either way, one WILL be mine. They've been doing their fair exclusives for years. The only reason people actually WANT one now is because it's DERPY. And we all LOVE Derpy. I have a feeling they'll do a non-special edition, small one just to please fans. No worries.
