Pennies

Not sure, at least 3? I don't go into gas stations very often. I find plenty at grocery store checkouts. Did well years back at the self checkout of a grocery store in a more uppity neighborhood. It was very common for people to just leave their change so I'd go check all them. Came away with almost $2 once.

I misheard or misinterpreted that finding a penny gives you good luck, and thought it required the extra step of putting it in your shoe. I might not have had any pickets or something, ai don't know. Thing is, I wasn't taking them out, and I'm pretty good at finding loose change, so it sounded like I was wearing spurs! :ButtercupLaugh:

Until my cousin's "found" it. I was upset, but my toes were getting a bit crowded. :sunny:

When I was a kid I sometimes used to look under shelves, counters, and stuff for pennies, in some nasty and very dirty places too! And I found a decent amount of change and stuff, even a few rare wheatback pennies! But I stopped by the time I became a teen and haven't done it since, probably something to do with awareness of how dirty and nasty it was to get on the floor and reach under objects just to get a few cents.

I still load up on them at the self-checkout stands at Walmart. I save them up in a little Ziploc baggie at home and toss them in a wishing well at work with my daughters. It’s their little ‘wishing fund.’
