If you could make G4 come back, would you do it?

This is most likely an overdone topic, but...

Personally, I don't think the show NEEDS anymore episodes.

G4 accomplished what it needed to and it did it well.

Which is why I simply don't understand why some people want it back so much!

Is it nostalgia? (Most likely, yes. :derp:)

The only thing I could see being semi-reasonable would be a spin-off of sorts.

But I don't see Hasbro ever doing that, and there's not really any point.

I certainly wouldn't be opposed to the idea though.

But hey, that's just my thoughts! If you have anything to say, go do it!

Remember to love and tolerate each-other and...

Have a nice day all you lovely peoplez!

Nope, I'd prefer a reboot of it, I don't think they need to touch something that already ended. I do think G4 as we know still had potential to tell new stories, but I would prefer if they restarted that potential from zero in a reboot.

They could make a midquel series, telling what happened in between "The Ending of the End" and "The Last Problem", but I don't think it's necessary (especially because it would feel too weird as a copy of what was made to Dragon Ball, where they made a sequel series to Z with Dragon Ball GT and then years later, they made a midquel series to Z with Dragon Ball Super and Daima. They already made the sequel series to G4 which is G5)

(Also haha that gif is funny, Lyra & Bonbon hugging each other while there are "clones" of them in the background, never noticed that ^_^)

I think a midquel series would definitely be the best way they could “bring it back”. It’d be interesting to see! :squee:

I don’t know how well Hasbro would do with a reboot though, considering their recent track record… I like the idea though! :eager:

No, I was happily done with Friendship is Magic after it ended. I'm burned out on revivals of things that don't need them and FiM certainly doesn't need one. It was a great show that served its purpose, had nine seasons to do what it wanted to do, let it die with dignity.

Spoiler

Now the G5 shows on the other hand, I'd make those come back in a heartbeat if I could do it because those shows actually need revivals with them not getting a chance to fulfill their full potential. You can fight me (not literally) about it all you want.

Only if I get to bring back Equestria Girls, since we didn't get its true ending. There were also certain aspects of it that we didn't get to see (such as the Humane 7's childhoods, how Sunset broke apart their friendships, and the Pony Mane 5 transforming into humans).

If anything I think it G4 lasted too long. With the later seasons feeling far more cynical and having none of the heart of the first few seasons. I'm fine with leaving it in the past if we're just gonna get more S6s and S9s. Now EQG and Pony Life on the other hand I'd welcome a revival of sorts

Of course I think G5 deserves a revival the most, since Hasbro never gave it a fair shot

No, I would not bring back Friendship is Magic if I was given the opportunity for the same reasons as Megas:

With Equestria Girls and Gen 5 I think you have more options for stories/world building since they're not as "stuck" in the fantasy genre as Friendship is Magic.

Yes but I'd make it come back.... later.

G4 isn't the only thing I want, I do want a new new My Little Pony show to enjoy though I do think G4 could stand to be.. retold? Not with major changes of course, just re-animated, with bit of polish and more care, a few more episodes thrown in particularly in seasons 1 and 2 and some slight changes to make the end of season 3 flow better narratively, weaker episodes and instances when the cast act strangely out of character aught to be reorganised or rewritten, certain loose ends tied up along the way, that sort of thing, keep all the framework just give it an honest second go adding small improvements along the way for an even better final product, really tapping into the mountain of potential the G4 universe has.

That's what I think I'd like anyway for G4.

I don't favour the idea of simply picking up where we left off or retconning anything major, the show ran its course love it or hate it and quite frankly I'm ready for a rewatch, just a little higher quality.

No. As much as I still miss it, FiM ended in a good spot. Heck, in this age of shows getting cancelled at the drop of a hat, I'm happy FiM even got a proper ending to begin with.

For me, the show definitely started running out of steam after season 6 and while the seasons after weren't terrible, it was getting clear FiM had just about ran its course. By season 9, there sadly just wasn't much left to do with the Mane 6. At the most, I could see a follow-up series with the Young Six set after The Last Problem since they had some good potential as the Mane 6's successors and it could be an interesting opportunity to tie up loose ends regarding the larger lore and world, but as far as our main ponies themselves go, their story is done.

To me it's quite shrimple. Nostalgia and community. There was a lot more of a community when the fandom was younger. It's kind of in a rough state now. Sure there are quite a few people around and especially those younger who haven't engaged with the fandom for over a decade like myself.

I would like a reboot and to experience watching an episode of a show together with many people again like I did when I was growing up, but if that doesn't happen then that's okay. I still have the memories

The problem is there is a balance that needs to be struck, if they brought back FIM, how long would it need to go on for?

A possible reboot of FIM would be interesting, perhaps in response to some complaints some people had about the episodes, but even then, reboots of animated shows don't really have a good history of working, do they? after how different G4 was from the rest before it, FIM was lucky to be the success it was.

It's not like Friendship Lessons actually did much to make the world a better place anyway, not because they're unsound, but because hardly anyone cares, our world is still pretty much a cruel and violent place to be in. While many people on this website may have understood the show's positive messages to a T, like owning up to faults, being honest with friends, being kind to others and de-escalating a potentially dangerous situation, as Fluttershy often does in the show, the problem here is, this goes over the heads of a lot of other people, MLP fans don't make up the majority of the human population, who would rather point fingers instead of encouraging someone to learn from their mistakes and be kinder to others. No, it's not possible to avoid violence all of the time, in such cases self defence is necessary, but one thing Fluttershy did in the show that does resonate with me, is how she handled Discord's behavior with such fortitude and bravery. I'm not joking, Fluttershy is a fictional character and yet she is so much braver and more patient than I am. Twilight Sparkle has her positive character traits as well, like when she talked Pinkie Pie down to stop her from hurting Princess Luna's feelings in Luna Eclipsed, recognizing Princess Luna's change of behavior that is no longer violent or toxic, another character trait that resonates with me as I do think rehabilitation is important when applied properly.

I can't stand it when series tries to artificially continue with nothing left to say until everybody gets bored and it gets cancelled. I really liked FiM's ending, for me, it was perfect, and I'd rather remembering it as beautiful as it is, even though I miss it.:kindness:

But I wouldn't be lying if I said I would have loved the kirin to appear in more than one episode, I don't understand why they bothered designing an entire race with their own lore, only to never mention them again.:mlp_okiedokieloki:

I suppose it would be a question on whether you see G4 as the animation style or as the Mane 6. Personally I preferred the style of G4 over G5 but if G4 were to come back I wouldn't want it to be the same thing either. Ideally I'd like a restart if it were to happen. Twilight and her friends don't need any more so I'd rather see a new group take center stage. It can still be in universe to it of course but it'd feel much more fresh without the need to rely on the Mane 6.

I recently discovered a comic that explains how Sunset broke apart their friendships: https://readcomiconline.li/Comic/My-Little-Pony-Friendship-is-Magic/Annual-1?id=31861&s=&quality=hq

If you combine the information in that comic and the information in the first movie you'll get a pretty good understanding of what happened.

Honestly, no.  Maybe a one-off special for Equestria Girls to give it a proper finale, but that's about it.

Friendship is Magic had 9 seasons, over 200 episodes, multiple specials, a theatrically released movie, and a series finale.  Most cartoons these days aren't lucky enough to even get a fraction of that.  They would be lucky enough to get more than 2 10 episode seasons if even that.  Asking for more Friendship is Magic sounds spoiled to me in comparison.
