Fiction Book Club #1: Book Selection

Recommended Posts

Hello, my little book ponies!

We are continuing our little experiment ^-^

Interest check voting said that at least 8 ponies are interested in the fiction book reading club on the forum :P

8 is a great number. There's a lot of special magic in it.

Here's ponies who shown at least some interest (except me of course 9w9). You really deserve to call yourself founders ^-^

@Clawdeen @Street Light @Tao @Fluttershutter @ExplosionMare @Longhaul @SparklingSwirls

Now it's time to select the very first book to read. I ask you to share what book you would wish to read and why. Later we will collect options and will select the first book by voting.

So the rules:

  • Discussion of books is strongly encouraged!
  • Anypony can join the fun any moment. I tagged mentioned founders to keep them up to date.
  • Any amount of books can be offered and any mind can be changed any time :umad:

So, the first move is mine.

I would like to read...

the Wizard of Earthsea!

The_Books_of_Earthsea.jpg

Actually I have read it when was a kid, but now I feel that I want to re-read it. Why? Let's see...

  • True classics of fantasy literature first published in 1964
  • The world with complex lore where magic is poetry
  • Dragons!
  • First book in series, so you can continue reading if you will enjoy the book too much :twi:

Now I would like to know your options. Show me whacha got poniz! :yay: Pwetty pweeze :kindness:

And don't forget to share your opinions about books of each other :Flutter-wink: It's a book club, it's time to talk about books.

Have a nice day! Sincerely, your book unicorn, Crypty Scribbles. ^o^

P.S. @Pandora, thank you for the idea of book sharing ^~^

I think both books mentioned so far sound really interesting. Hopefully I’ll have some more free time tomorrow. So I can browse around to see what I’d like to read that I can throw in as a suggestion

Hmm I’m afraid I don’t really have any suggestions, that’s why I said I was interested, cause I don’t know on my own what would be a good book to read :P

I really don't know what to recommend here because most of the fiction I own is geared toward the fire service, and a lot of the language is not the friendliest in the world either.  I'm more than happy to read whatever you all recommend, assuming I can get my hands on a copy, either physical or ebook.

I hate to hop on the I'm not too sure what to recommend train but I don't know what to recommend lol.

I do however want to ask if anyone has read The Dice Man by Luke Rhinehart. I'd been considering that one for awhile and was curious if it's any good.

All I can think of is "The Giver" but I'm not sure how forums appropriate it is  Most of my books, if not all of them, are at least PG-13, so I'm sorry if I don't have a great suggestion!

Oh, wait, I have some MLP junior novels if anyone would be interested in those!
