Darkness

How do you usually like the lights when you're sitting around watching tv or playing games or whatever?

So many people, including some of my family, like to have the lights off and that drives me crazy. It's an eye strain for me and I like to see my surroundings.

I agree with this. With a veil of darkness cloaked all around -- it makes me feel like that spongebob meme:

I’m one of those people who like the lights off when the TV is on. To me, it would be like having all the lights turned on in a movie theater when I’m trying to enjoy a movie. It’s a distraction. As long as I can see my surroundings I can’t be adequately unaware of them, and that is a detriment to my viewing experience when I’m trying to forget the world and disappear into my movies, shows or whatever.

I. Don't. Like. Light.

I prefer them on as it's bad for your eyes to stare at a screen in the dark.

I'm too into the darkness and it has caused me problems. I cannot sleep unless it is pitch black. But I also have night terrors, so...

I game and watch movies in the dark too.

I have tested as vitamin D deficient before and have had to go on mega doses and regular supplementation.

But, the dark is where I feel comfortable, where I chillax.

When I start a movie, I'm not getting up in the middle of it. I've reserved my time, body and mind towards enjoying this medium, and I will not have interruptions.

I also don't like reflections on my screen, and if it's too bright, I adjust the brightness, so no need to have lights on.

That being said, my girlfriend might need to get up, and the cat may want to pounce because this is his room too. Luckily I can have it be nearly completely dark in my corner of the bed, while leaving the bathroom light on for everyone else to see where they need to.

I usually turn on the light because if I don't turn on the light, I feel sleepy. When I watch movies, I usually turn off the light.

depends on my mood. both light and dark can be good but the thing is with me, i only like natural light and there isn't such a thing at night (unless you count the moon) i love the dark as it calms me as long as i don't think about a monster or something coming after me (yes im a grown lady and still think that lol. never changed since i was a kid) i love the natural light from outside because it's beautiful and keeps me up. i hate artificial light because its orange/yellow and ugly. i would prefer a blue/white light in my room or non at all. my sweet spot is in the morning when everyone's still sleep i love to turn all the lights off and open the window, sit right near it and work on art, write or other things. i also like it closed with some light coming in and watching movies, shows or videos.

unlike most people, being on my laptop while the room is dark doesn't keep me up, it actually makes me more tired (i was still like this before i gave up on phones)
