Book Worm 10 June 18, 2012 Share June 18, 2012 Good evening, everypony (It feels so wonderful to write that, finally). My name is Book Worm. I'm a pony who loves books and writing. I'm a unicorn who cannot get enough of the written word. If you throw a book or a story my way, you can bet that I'll have it read in no time. I love to weave tales of my own as well. My goal in the foreseeable future is to be published on Equestria Daily. Expect to see something from me! When I'm not in the library, you can expect to see me in my garden. I love growing both flowers and vegetables. My favorites are cucumbers, bleeding hearts, and hostas. I'm also working on a lovely patch of lambs' ears and a lovely rhododendron. Anypony who likes is always welcome to sample and join me. I don't want to bore y'all with too many details about my appearance, as you'll see a rendering of me eventually. I'm also not a pony that's afraid to change her appearance from time to time. Just because I'm nerdy doesn't mean that I don't like to experiment once in a while. I can tell you that I've got long black hair for my mane and tail. I like to keep my bangs short, almost like a bowl cut, but the rest is long. Haven't yet decided on what the rest of me shall be. It's important, to invent oneself. But I encourage you to keep tabs on me. I'm accepting of everypony, and I love to learn about new ponies, too. I know that when I joined the fandom, I had the same goal as you: writing something worthy of being featured on Equestria Daily. I managed to somehow succeed in that, so I'm sure you'll be able to as well if you apply yourself. If you don't have anyone else helping you with your writing, feel free to come to me. I know the sort of things Equestria Daily looks for, and I can help you with critiquing faster than a website like ponychan can. Oh, and a quick tip for your future works: the true plural of Pegasus is Pegasus as there only ever existed one Pegasus. "Pegasi" is further incorrect because in Ancient Greek (the language), words ending in (the modern day, English equivalent of) "us" did not have their said ending replaced with an "i," that occurance fails to exist outside of Latin and Latin based languages. Ah, someone after my own heart. You would surprised at how many people doubt the Greek language. Don't even get me started on my "octopus, octopi, octopuses, and/or octopedes" dicussions. Returning to the subject at hand, I will gladly critique your work if you so desire! I've always had dreams of writing, but I require an extreme bit of inspiration before I begin to accept what I write as postable/revealable/several other made-up words that one could suspect to have similar meanings. As such, I enjoy helping others with their work, mainly because it gives me a sense of accomplishment. (I feel like the stereotypical, washed-up, ex-sportsman that usually acts as a coach/trainer to the protagonist of many sports stories. ) Basically, by allowing me to help you, you will be helping me get my fix. Even the hair is an accurate representation. I know enough to distance role-playing from other forum speak. My apologies if I came off as disingenuinous. Welcome! I'm currently going for an English Major myself, do you have any advice you can give me? (college is getting really tough ) For an English major, a few things. One: find your niche. Do you enjoy reading? Critique? Writing? Two: stay with it. If you are ambitious and really want to stick with English, you'll likely need to go on to graduate school. I'm in the process of getting there myself. Three: have fun with it. English majors are some of the most underwritten students in universities. I'm curious where you're studying, but I won't ask you to divulge those details openly. Also, welcome to the forums! I wish for you the best of times here.
