Fan art...kinda....meh

Here is something I made three days ago.

 

I did it with paint.net

Well yeah it's a mlp drawing so it's fan art. I can't tell what this is crossing over with though.

 

The shading looks nice, although the lines can be smoother (anti-aliased) and the colours a little more realistic along with the proportions.

The franchise I'm refering to is: the Rance series, one of my favorites.

I've looked at both of the drawings and definitely prefer the second one to the first. Also, if you're not aware of it, certain programs like GIMP or Paint Tool SAI are absolutely free and off everything that Paint.net does, but I've felt they give out more power to what you can do.

 

As for Constructive Criticism -

 

1st pic -

Rarity's head looks a bit strange tilted to the side like that; try straight forward, downwards or chin tilted up next time.

 

The colors are VERY strong in this. Different tones would have been more effective while playing off the stronger colors with

the areas of light.

 

The highlights in Twilight Sparkles hair are missing.

 

2nd pic -

There's really nothing wrong with it. Maybe try doing different brush patterns to bring the sky out better, but there's really

nothing wrong with that; a nice improvement from the first piece.

I know this will make me sound like a prick. But...does anyone want to draw duel?

 

If nobody knows what it means:

it means to have a competition in which two artists draw something a third party decided on. It could be a character, a place, or an action.

Once both artists have presented their drawings, the third party or the public, has to decide which one depicted the said action or character better.

 

(it isn't also quality of the drawing what matters, but trying to put on paper the idea the third party tried to convey)

So? Does anyone want to draw duel?
