Thank you, DeviantArt for the vectors!

By the way, I really love light blue-dark blue with Applejack. I don't know why. I know it's not suitable.

I think I'm getting better and better every time!

Cute, the 'Hugs?' vector x3 I think the text is pretty cool, but again, blue and orange doesn't work for me personally, it clashes in a non-helpful way. But this is another nice one ^^

I hate the combination of blue and orange. I think it's because my favorite color is blue, and my favorite pony is Applejack. Probably because my favorite color is blue.

I like the simplicity, though the font doesn't go well with Applejack.

Yeah, I couldn't really find a good font. But I think it's good enough. It's not too eye popping.

My critique:

  • Very simple, yet clean design.
  • The vector you used fits right in.
  • It would look much better if you used an orange background to go with Applejack. Blue does not suit her.
  • Her name at the top should be in Orange as well, or something that matches her. Black does not seem to fit either.

Not much I can say here than simple design with an average appearance.

3/5

Actually, I think the font could work well provided it was accompanied by a suitable background.

Well I was going with what was in front of my face, and the background didn't work with the text :P

Fixed :D

...Is it me or do I see a bunch of black streaks on the left side? Is there a way to fix that? It doesn't look like that on gimp...

GIMP.

Ah okay. I'm not sure what GIMP has in terms of layer blending options, but this wallpaper could definitely benefit from having a grunge texture layer set to either Overlay or Soft Light (or whatever the GIMP equivalent is. From what I could find, it appears to have Soft Light) over the gradient layer.

Just a small bit of advice as it looks like you are in the beginning stages of graphics design. :D

I merge down all of my layers when I'm done with my work. It's probably not the best thing to do. I fiddled around with artistic filters and see if I could apply something you may've been looking for.

Edit: There is a soft glow in it, but it's very subtle. I didn't want the brightness to overtake the colors and make it look more white than anything else.

Oh, I would highly recommend not merging all of your layers. You should definitely try and keep unmerged raw copies of all of your pictures (raw copies being either the PSD [Photoshop] or XCF [GIMP] file). However, if you are hurting for disk space, you can delete them after a while.

And what I meant by textures is downloading texture packs. These are essentially JPEG or PNG images of some kind of texture that can be pasted onto a layer. Once pasted onto a layer, set the blending mode to Soft Light or Overlay. You may want to desaturate the texture layer as well (In Photoshop pressing CTRL + SHIFT + U does this - not sure if it works the same in GIMP).

For example, in this Spitfire wallpaper I made, I took the grunge image, pasted it into the layer above the gradient, set the blending mode to Soft Light, and lowered the opacity.

If you Google search for texture packs, you will find a boat load of them.

Oh, ha. Thanks a bunch. Although I love making this kind of art I'm actually pretty new to layers. I'll consider doing so. I searched up "Texture packs GIMP" on Google and, of course, it's a bunch of Minecraft stuff. But, I found a collection of texture packs here, I don't see myself using them though. http://www.flickr.com/photos/torley/collections/72157594588432564/

I also found Grunge Brushes for GIMP, not too sure if that's what you mean either.

And yes, next time I work on a picture with quite a few of layers I'll make sure to save it in .xcf unmerged.

Search for "Photoshop texture packs". Since they are just image files, they should work all the same.

Okay, now I have an idea what you mean now. xD This is probably really annoying to teach. You paste the grunge layer above the gradient layer, make it transparent, discolor it so it doesn't take over the colors of the gradient, etc.

ANYWAYS.

Dude, thank you so much. This is amazing. It took a while to figure out but.. WOW! Thank you!
