searching Tales told through travel: a romantic role-play OOC

In most roleplays, events happen at specific places. But think, for a second, of the roads between the destination and the start of one's journey. What happens between the places, during the thick of a journey? This role-play will delve into those events, those day-to-day occurrences that make up the travel between our homes and our final destinations. This little role-play will ultimately lead us to a ball held by Princess Luna, named "The Eclipse Ball", in celebration of the first full solar eclipse in one hundred years. Glowing leaflets have been spread on the winds of the night, each and every one finding a pony and inviting them to Canterlot Palace for an exquisite ball.

 

The road to Canterlot is long, bordering The Everfree forest, and is sometimes subject to danger from the monsters living within the dark, leafy depths. Along the path, the many ponies will meet each other, and through such meetings, through travel, they will grow closer, hearts will meet perhaps, romance will blossom on the way to the most spectacular ball in centuries. The eclipse will bring about magical effects to anypony within the Royal Ballroom, through what specific magic has yet to be known to anypony else but Princess Luna.

 

This role-play will be romantic, but i would ask you refrain from hopping to the first mare or stallion you find and doting upon them. Please, do not let this thread dissolve into heart-broken chaos.

Well lyrical, i would prefer if this didn't become a meltdown of a love role-play, with lovestruck ponies a lll scrambling for a significant other. That would be counterbenifical to my goal. Romance can be found through friendship and trials, forged in the pits of despair and bathed in the soothing waters of another's heart....but want and affection, mistaken for love, could spoil something beautiful before it sprouts life and can withstand such things.

What i am saying is perhaps you can join, but i don't want this getting too out of hand. I'm looking for somepony else to have a fun little relationship with, nothing too serious.

Sounds like a totally swell idea. I really like the travelling aspect, and it's something that hasn't been done yet.

He could easily be someone you meet along the way.

I thank you, Half-Note. Such a thing helps put my heart at ease. I love role-plays, but it saddens me greatly when i see role-plays degrade into minimum-sized posts and a shapeless story.

I love roleplaying as well. The ones I'm in are kind of slow, or not involving my character at the moment. I'd definitely like to take advantage of something while it's small. Then when it's bigger, I can say, "Yup, i'm a part of that". Then I could go to bed happy, unlike now, while I wait for responses....

But if you just say "Don't go too romance crazy" it might work?

Does anybody agree on that? If they do, then they can help by telling me of the places between...by describing what a traveling pony would find between cities and towns. WHat would we find, exactly?

I agree.

The unknown can be more interesting because we are naturally curious of what is out there. It's more of what you make of it when you find it too.

As on the flip side, it can be less surprising when you reach your destination seeing you already know what it is.

The way there is the actual adventure.

Storyline, starting, and...i don't know if antagonists will show up during travel. This role-play is charcter-centric, entirely focused on the characters traveling to places for some reason for another. The idea is beautiful on paper, but it needs more..solidity, i suppose.

I'll have to think of it.

But the basis of the storyline is obviously the characters going on a journey to a destination and going through various situations on the way to make it a spectacular and memorable trip.

But into a more in depth theme we will have to go. First we could find a way/reason for all the characters to meet up. A strange invitation maybe?

Hmmm...of course! Some sort of calling, a message sent to a multitude of ponies, something that will pull them to a destination. But...what could..oh! Perhaps someplace romantic, perhaps a destination will mean more to those who have an open heart or even a significant somebody else.

Perhaps...though that place is so over-used. Though imagine,, a handful of random ponies invited to a ball, and the only thing they're missing is a date! That would make for a fun little time. We need an aristocratic pony, somepony with a massive amount of money, money to burn, money to just throw around without care. Perhaps royalty, but...maybe just somepony with influence. Like the owner of a vineyard or of a massive orchard. Now...we have the event...now for a path. We would need a road that would merge into a long, long road, finally ending at the destination. But the true fun would happen along the way...and maybe we could find that special somepony on the way.

 

Now how does this sound? Thoughts?

I think i would rather leave out celestia...i want somepony more pompous and obscure, a pony looking for a name, perhaps also seeking somepony else to call their own. Or a lonely, successful pony seeking friends? An OC would be fine for the part.

Exactly! Luna? Perhaps the returning royal princess would host her own ball, something to eclipse her sister's radiance. *gasp* i have it!! How does the name "The Eclipse Ball" sound? It would be a massive party, leading to the planned solar eclipse at noon!

Yes, the Eclipse Ball, a party hosted by Princess Luna. Ponies from all over Equestria are invited, the glowing leaflets spread on the winds of a cold night, and anypony who receives one is welcome to come. Any dress is acceptable, but formalwear would be preferred. The main event is the solar eclipse, at which the world will turn black as night, with only the faintest sunlight to provide natural light. Perhaps soothing special could happen at the time of the eclipse?
