And sorry to go off-topic, but HI ZATCH!

HAI T!

I feel like I should better explain why I dislike the show.

First off is the animation and color scheme, somehow, although I cant really explain it, this was a derogatory factor to me, and I just found myself not a fan of the style.

Some people may say the characters are well developed, but i just dont see proper characterization with most of them.

The comedy... i had 2 laughs out of all nine episodes... and I laugh at alot of things, but i just didn't find the jokes funny, or they wwere too corny.

Ill admit, the voice acting was one thing that I approved of in the show.

Now with regards to people that aren't interested in the show, I very much implore for posts like this. Explanation helps a lot more than a lone "I don't like the show." Thanks, BronyHeart.

For some reason, animation and aesthetic qualities never seemed to play a big role in whether or not I liked a show. I also love the jokes made throughout the show.

As for character development, I've stated that yes, it is very much lacking in that regard, but S2 helps out there.

so I deduced that you meant that there are lots of bronies that are biased towards Pound Puppies, and I said that I have reason to believe against that.

You haven't seen what I've seen. Some folks out there are cruel. :(

But at least Internet buzz isn't everything. In fact, at the end of the day, I'm sure that The Hub and Hasbro realize that. After all, just because a show doesn't get much talk online, doesn't mean that it doesn't get good ratings.

Sometimes it can be dangerous when a show caters to its fans too much. Just look what happened with the whole "derpy" thing. It turned into a big mess.

First and foremost, MLP should focus on its target audience, and try not to become a "brony show".

EDIT: By the way, just because Pound Puppies may not have a "brony vibe", that's not a bad thing. After all, older guys started liking MLP before it became "brony oriented".

Pound Puppies is definitely not just for kids, its got jokes that adults can enjoy.

At the end of the day, Pound Puppies is just a good show that the whole family can enjoy.

So is My Little Pony, though I just wish that Pound Puppies would get more fan attention. There are in fact a lot of bronies who also enjoy Pound Puppies.

And it should be noted that The Hub's Pound Puppies was recently a winner of the 2012 HUMANITAS Prize for excellence in writing for children’s television for the episode "I Never Barked for My Father"

It also won a CINE Golden Eagle Award this year as well. (As did a few other Hub shows; Family Game Night, Transformers PRIME, and R.L. Stine's Haunting Hour.)

Right, but this logic in mind, most younger kids shows are designed for the whole family. It should cater to the kids while still having something for their parents. Thats how the whole brony thing started, so one could almost say MLP was for bronies since the begining. Also in my earlier post, I didn't strictly imply that MLP catered to only bronies. obviously they still have to write for their target demographic, but if you do a side by side of season one and season two, you will notice a MONUMENTAL change in style. Also the fact that they are bringing back John De Lance almost screams that the show is targeting both demographics at once

As for these pound puppies facts you have just posted, I may have to rewatch it now. I only saw one or two episodes anyhow.

I dont think pound puppies would get a huge following like ponies did for one reason: The show is gender neutral. The only reason Ponies became so huge was because: a) it was spawned in the hellish fires that are 4chan, so naturally it spread, dare I say "like a cancer" and b ) it is designed for girls! something as weird as 20-25-30 year old dudes watching a show for 5-10 year old girls is going to get much more attention and investigation

Anywho, I will definitely give the show a watch again, It wont kill me, and it sounds interesting now that you bring some of this up

You've got some points there.

You know, at this point I don't even care if Pound Puppies doesn't get as much Internet attention as MLP.

My efforts here are just about exposing people to it and making sure that its given a fair chance. (By both bronies and non-bronies)

I just want make sure it gets exposure now and again.

Internet fandom is not necessarily an accurate indication of how popular a show is.

What is important is ratings. I have been following news for The Hub, and as I understand it, Pound Puppies has been doing quite well. As mentioned before, season 3 is confirmed, I'm looking forward to it, as well the remaining episodes of season 2 which, (as I write this) should be about 4 more episodes.

Now I just wish that the over-eager MLP fans would stop spamming and trolling The Hub's facebook and Youtube pages. Its a little childish.

I just watched "Mutternal Instincts". It was pretty good and I really like Cookie. I don't like it as much as MLP, but it was enjoyable and I might watch it more when I'm bored :)

All of these "I might watch it when I'm bored" opinions just made me have a revelation: The main reason I watched this show more was because I was bored.

I mentioned earlier that my two first episodes were "Quintuplets" and "Homeward Pound." I watched those in around November of last year, but I didn't make an effort to watch any more than that, honestly.

After over 7 months, I was into my summer. I was moving in with my stepdad, and he didn't have home internet set up, so that meant no Xbawx Libe. After the season finale for S2 of MLP, I didn't want to watch much of it during downtime; it made me depressed that there was still time to kill before S3. I really didn't find much else on at the time while I was browsing (that I found interesting), so I resorted to reading fanfiction for a while. After about two or three days at my stepfather's house, I was out of school for summer. Immediately, I knew that I had no set agenda for anything. That following Saturday, I woke up early and flipped it to The Hub to catch the rest of MLP (Secret of My Excess was the episode that was on, I believe). It was the end of the episode, but I was too lazy to change the channel. Pound Puppies came on near directly afterward.

I sat through "The General", and it wasn't bad. After that, "The Prince and the Pupper" began, and I found that to be a VERY funny episode (the exchanged smacks were downright hilarious, as well as the reasons behind them). After actually laughing at the show, I figured I'd give it a few more goes.

Then, I read up on EqD that Tara Strong would be voicing Zipper in the S2 premiere. Missed it on it's first run, but I set it for recording on the next, and loved it. Great start for S2, as far as I could tell at the time. I proceeded to watch and record other episodes, eventually joined a fandom, and became absolutely enthralled by the show. I've seen every episode up to date at least 4 times (same with MLP, practically, but nonetheless). I was a bit gloomy when I found out that this show's fandom is either scattered or barely subsisting, but I was also amazed by the fact that the show was still going so strongly. The show has helped me cope with MLP's wait for S3, but I am glad to have found a new avocation and interest.

On an unrelated note: I'm still working on a fanfiction for the show (it's meant to have some MLP in it later on, but alas, still in the works).

Actually, yes, that is how a lot of people start to get hooked on shows. :)

I first saw Pound Puppies when my household got a preview of The Hub.

I got The Hub in early Feburary of this year (as a way to watch MLP) but Pound Puppies was always there in the "background", and I started watching it more, and I really liked the show. I REALLY starting getting into it shortly after season 2 of MLP ended, and I realized that it deserved some love and attention!

I LOVE the fact that John DiMaggio is a voice on the show. (I mean, come on, he is awesome! He's the voice of Bender on Futurama!) And the rest of the voice cast is really great too.(Betty White voices a character!) The voices fit the characters very well.

The show definitely has a strong voice cast. Some of them only do voice-over work, but most of them are live-action actors as well.

I just find the characters to be fun (and I like the character designs.) I like the humor. (there are funny jokes, and the delivery on some of the lines is great!)

For the record, I do still like MLP, but this will probably be one of my last posts on this forum for a while. My main goal right now is to get the word out about Pound Puppies and support it (My Little Pony certainly does not need my help in that department!)

And since this forum is mainly for My Little Pony fans, this is not exactly the best place to do it.

I didn't start this thread, but I do hope that I have inspired some people here to give the show a fair chance.

So Zatchiel, I'll see ya back at our usual hangout! :)

But I will say that I would love to see a Pound Puppies/My Little Pony crossover. Seriously, if MLP is going to have a crossover with any Hub show, it will most likely be Pound Puppies. Both shows are animated by the same studio, so it would be much cheaper for the company to produce.

And I know what some are thinking, but I have an idea for how a Puppies/Ponies crossover could work as far as a storyline, but that another story. for another time... ;)

And I have to say it was pretty good! You guys should definately check it out. many people dismiss the show without watching it because "its a dumb kids show." But you know what else is a dumb kids show? My Little Pony. And you all seem to like that, right? So I guess just because its a 'dumb kids show' dosent mean its bad, right? If watching MLP has taught me anything, its that adults can like childrens programming, just as children can like adult programming.

so, yeah, just watch it with no expectations, and im sure youll like it!

I Agree with you. Its not that bad of a show. its actually kinda cute in my opinion. When i saw like comericals for it i was thinking that was cheesey, but its not half bad!

For the record, that is the main reason why I was shocked and saddened, initially no explanation was given.

I feel its important for one to explain themselves when they state their dislike for a show. Its much more productive that way. Especially on the Internet, when you have nothing to go on except written words.

OK, I just want to make one final statement here,

Of all of the animated shows on The Hub. I've noticed that Pound Puppies is more like any other show in terms of something that both young and older audiences can enjoy with similar characters and tones.

FORGET the Internet Hype.

Frankly, if you think that Pound Puppies is not as sophisticated as MLP, you are sadly mistaken.

Pound Puppies can be just as self-aware as MLP.

In season 2 of Pound Puppies, characters have acknowledged when another character gives a "backstory" and have also acknowledged when a "flashback" is made.

And again, Niblet is a lot like Pinkie Pie. (Why else do you think that The Hub has put them together in commercials in the past?)

Remember guys, as good as My Little Pony is, it is NOT perfect. NO show is perfect. There will always be some episodes that are better than others, some that are weaker than others, and MLP is no exception. Personally, I feel that season 1 of FiM has some rather weak episodes in comparison to its 2nd season (and some weak season 2 episodes as well.)

Same thing with Pound Puppies (again, every show has its highs and lows)

For those who don't like what they've seen on Pound Puppies, perhaps you have just not see the "right" episodes, or perhaps not enough episodes.

Pound Puppies DOES have humor that both adults and kids can enjoy, (a rather slick, self-aware sense of humor at times) likable characters too, and its plot-lines can be just as sweet as MLP (and MLP has had some very syrupy-sweet stories at that.)

What I am really saying is, if you like MLP, and you don't think that Pound Puppies is trying as hard (in regards to the cast, crew, and writers) you are sadly mistaken and are NOT giving the show enough credit, and you are missing out.

...Also, to add to my previous post, in the season 2 episode of Pound Puppies, "There's Something About Camelia" there is a funny sequence in which some of the dogs (Squirt, Cookie, and Strudel) have to distract a crowd of humans, so they do a "doggy dance" routine with cheesy, nervous grins on their faces set to hokey music. Its a really great comedic moment.
