I keep seeing this character pop up on tumblr, youtube, DA, even here on the forum.....

I don't know what her name is or what her story is but she's a white Pegasus with a yellow mane styled like Pinkie Pie's

in fact now that I think about it, she looks almost exactly like Pinkie Pie.....

Surprise, which was going to be Pinkie's name and color style for the G4 show before Faust got it turned down.

Doesn't look right, I'm glad they changed it.

Maybe it's just that I'm so used to Pinkie Pie, but I wouldn't mind Surprise being some kind of cousin.

That would be cool, they should make that an episode.

hmm interesting never new about it but still pinkie pie is better than suprise because she is in the show

 

Ozone maybe if Suprise would be part of the show you would be used to it and think exacly the oposite

Ah neat! I'd wondered about that myself. I just assumed some was someone's OC. i think Pinky Pie came out better for the redesign though. It'd have thrown off the balance of the characters if she were a pegasus. Not to mention Rarity would have had to have a different colour scheme.

I've seen her used in the Rainbow Dash presents version of Rainbow Factory as Mr. Atmosphere. I never knew where the character was from until now.

I think they lost the rights for Surprise and Firefly's/Old Rainbow Dash's name, which is why they replaced them with G3 ponies. Here's a handy chart that shows Lauren Faust's ideas of what the ponies were originally going to look like and what influenced them:

 

 

I'm glad that they went with the G3 designs. OldTwilight and OldRainbow/Firefly's designs just screamed "spin-off of a retro cartoon" far too much and were unflattering. I also like Fluttershy as a pegasus and Pinkie as an earth pony. It's kind of cool that Lauren used her favorite characters from her childhood though, and I wonder if she was disappointed when she was forced to replace some of them.

I wanted to say that ;~;

 

Well, the name is Surprise, a G1 pony, which from the looks of it, would have been an awesome pony to have on the show but I'm kinda glad she didn't make it, mostly because my OC is a white pegasus, with a blue and pink mane, and it'd look like a Firefly/Surprise mash-up o3o

 

Hasbro needed to make a few changes, and after a lot of mumble jumble, the said they could only keep AJ, and Spike in this generation, Fluttershy, was originally going to be a G1 earth pony named "Posey" that already had the same color scheme, but different race and cutiemark. Faust switched Pinkie and Fluttershy species, to have 2 of each species, and the rest of the Mane 6..... well

 

Twilight Wish = Twilight Sparkle

Firefly = Rainbow Dash

Sparkler (and there's some rumors about Glory contributing in her creation) = Rarity
