Alicorns or Pegasus Unicorns?

Alicorns.

 

Pegasus Unicorn sounds rather chunky.

I thought Princess Luna and Princess Celestia became the princesses because they had traits of all three types of ponies: Earth Ponies, Unicorns, and Pegasi. Unicorn Pegasi imply that there is no Earth Pony, which makes it sound like Earth Ponies have nothing special. I prefer them having traits of all three, though.

I prefer using the term "alicorn" because it's shorter, and (at least in the case of Celestia and Luna) they also have traits of Earth ponies and not just unicorns and pegasi. Using the term "unicorn-pegasus" or something similar would only imply a simple fusion of the pony species instead of also being another species entirely, then again a fusion is what Cadance and Twilight seem to be since Twilight is a unicorn with wings, and Cadance is a pegasus with a horn (according to the novel I've never read). Alicorn magic is not just more powerful than the average unicorns but also more powerful than a team of unicorns, for example. The exploration of the alicorn lore is one of the show's bigger missed opportunities since there's definitely at least a few differences between Celestia and Luna's alicorn status and that of Cadance and Twilight, but the not all the important differences are told.

Technically, 'alicorn' refers to a unicorn's horn and only within this fandom does it meet the definition of 'winged unicorn'. That said, the show refers to them as alicorns, and because of that I consider it to be the correct phrase.

I use both, I use pegacorn for the pegasi x unicorn hybrids and alicorn for the ones that are only royality,have godlike powers,and the traits of all the pony races.

I prefer Alicorn and normally anything else, especially Pegacorn make me cringe a little bit. But maybe that's just my sensitivity to pronouncing words and accuracy.
