All valid points. My concern is that the lack of a standing army (Calvary, Artillery, Armored, Airborne) needs to be addressed because of the fact that any prepared and experienced force will be able to conquer with virtually no resistance. Oh sure the mane six will be able to do their thing but why should the entire population of Equestria rely on 6 little girls for their protection i wouldn't want that if i was a citizen i fail to see how order is even maintained. When the Princess learns of trouble its usually too late. For the Citizens, For The Princess!

So far, to my knowledge, there are only two military organizations in Equestria. The Royal Guard, who proved to be inefficient during the Canterlot Wedding, and the Wonderbolts, who can barely be qualified as a military organization. The former though, they do have spears and magic so I guess they could repel lesser invaders.

 

But none of that matters because the rulers of Equestria control the sun and moon. If the invaders attack Equestria, Celestia and Luna can just rig the night and day cycles to benefit them and screw the enemy. You'd need a force like China to invade Equestria successfully. Even then, they have the Elements of Harmony, that can solve EVERYTHING.

well the mane6 is prepared for anything except themselves... if something will ruin all of equestria it's going to come from them. Not even discord could do it.

Well I can see Equestria being utterly destroyed by:

Rebellion

Invasion from neighboring empire with powerful army

Epidemic

Zombies

Aliens

Any major national disaster

Famine

Nuclear annihilation

Demonic Invasion which overpowers the might of magic and friendship

 

However, whenever something DOES happen, the Mane 6 step in and put a quick end to it. They're like The Avengers, except they are cute, colorful ponies.

I believe that having six mysterious items with unlimited power and then also

two queens and princesses that control orbiting celestial bodies is defense enough, they just

need to use them more
