When the chips were down trixie actually did try

I find it odd how evil Trixie seems to be portrayed in general on the forums when really she acted very much the same as Twilight did when faced with a danger, just far less effectively.

What I mean is -- snips and snails goes to her and says we let out the ursa major -- She gives the same kind of shocked why response twilight did and then when confronted by the Ursa, she actually did stand her ground -- she tried several things and only when they all failed did she flee.

I mean she could have run without even trying -- but the point is that she did act to try to protect snips snails and the town to the best of her abilities -- under pressure with that big ursa breathing down her neck.

Yes she couldnt face the ponies of ponyville after her failure and twilight's success, but that is also quite reasonable seeing how she was trying to be miss showoff earlier. But again that can be part of a magic act.

----

At any rate I will be a little depressed if she actually does turn in a big way to the dark side in season 3 -- She has definitely flaws of character but she also has strengths and I simply do not see that level of evil in her.

Interesting point, but I always figured that she simply did that in a rather vain attempt to save face and back up all the boasts she'd said earlier in the episode, rather than out of any concern for a town she'd just moved to or ponies whom she'd just met. I could be wrong, but based on the way Trixie acted the whole episode prior to that point, that's what I still figure.

Her attempts to defeat the Ursa Minor definitely weren't for the safety of Snips, Snails, and Ponyville. She did that as an attempt to keep her fame and actually try to hide up her previous lie.

Standing up to the ursa for as long as she did showed quite a lot of guts. That legitimately could have been the end of Trixie. And she did it purposefully. Maybe I just tend to see the good in people and ponies.

Oh, trust me, I like Trixie. I have her in my signature. But I just wanted to point out that your idea that she wanted to protect Snips and Snails and Ponyville wasn't necessarily correct.

@@Scootabloom,

Well she knew she couldn't do it, but it didn't stop her from trying, she knew she'd probably loose her life in an attempt to save them, because she well knew she wasn't the powerful unicorn she claimed herself to be. xP

She does have guts, yes. I completely agree. However, that goes to show how much her pride means to her, and only when she had all odds against her did she admit that she had been lying the whole time. Also, why do people keep thinking this, she clearly didn't do that to save them, her only intention was to boost her pride and fame. Maybe, just maybe, getting lucky enough to defeat the ursa minor and get become even more of a Great and Powerful Trixie than she already claimed to be.

Based on some leaked images, it seems that Trixie will play the role of the villain again in Season 3. Personally, though, I would like to see her turn good, because I like her design and she has the potential to grow a lot as a character. But who knows what'll happen!

Well she knew she lied, so there was really no reason on her to try to defeat the Ursa, the reason I said she was saving them was because she looked afraid, she looked unsure, yet she stood in front of them and tried to do it.

I guess. "The Great and Powerful Trixie never gives up in the face of danger. After all she has saved the town of Hoofington from a Ursa Major!"

That actually made me start laughing xD

I doubt she had ever been in contact with an actual Ursa Minor/Major, considering she mistook the minor for a major (you know that already let's get to the point) She has an ego, and to protect her ego she said that, but if you're in a life or death situation, it's best to let go off the ego, don't ya'h think?

Trxie is a very interesting character... I personally don't like her, but I also don't hate her. I mean, she's not evil, she's just annoying, but in an interesting way... (I really can't find more words to describe her) But the end of that episode really left a huge opportunity for future improvement of her character, and I'm willing to see it~

Maybe she can redeem herself and help the Mane 6 somehow. That would be lovely. :P

Yea, I commend her for actually giving up in the end on her pride and admitting to it, however, she then proceeds to say, "You may have defeated an Ursa Minor, but you will never have the amazing, show stopping abilites of The Great and Powerful Trixie!" *boom*. She's gone. So clearly she just gave up when it was absolutely necessary, but then went back to the same ol' Trixie we all know and love (or hate.) Some people never change, ya know? XD

I still love Trixie though, definitely my favorite villian (if you could consider her a villian, though in Season 3 she probably will be based off of the leaked picture).

Actually if that pendant she is shown wearing gives powers similar to the elements of harmony -- it would be the very worst thing for Trixie. Trixie needs growth not more power to fuel the bluster. Especially not unearned extra power. As I said -- if they move her character into places where she falls, I will mourn if she doesnt gain redemption by the end.

She isn't evil. She gave it a shot because she felt obligated. Her boasting implied that she had some knowledge of Ursas. I think that because of her show, she was MORALLY obligated, and wouldn't have been able to live with herself if she didn't. I also don't think she expected anyone to believe her claims, as most showponies do. As a performer/speaker, the majority of your audience only listens to about 30 percent of your content.

True, she did try and fight the creator, but I don't think it was to save Snips, Snails, or even the town. I think she did it just to make herself look good and to make sure no one found out she was lying. So I don't believe what she did was for good.

She fought the ursa to save face, she was likely concerned, but I bet she knew she would fail. She had hoped to luck out. This does not mean she acted unethically. If twilight had been incapable to defeat it she would have done her best to evacuate everypony. At the point Trixie ran, running was the best idea for anyone but twilight. She honestly should have ran sooner. She does have guts. Though a braggart, she still has some moral character. She does desire for modesty and morality. I do not hate her, and hope she grows as a pony. Her magic talent is decent too. She needs to refine her skills and gain some new ones by studying.

Trixes intresting she seems to like boasting but somthing about her seems good but I don't really think she did it to save the villagers like twilight did trixe did it almost like a last attempt like she didnt want the pepole to see that she lied she likes the fame shes sorta simlliar to rainbow dash only trixe wants to boast about anything she wants to be better than anyone as she says anything you do I can do better but i think trixe might be good or partly good chracter one day especially scince she has a my little pony toy but the other show antagonist dont so maybe she did try in order to protect pepole instead of because of her boast or maybe it was a combination
