"I said a brownie..." she said with a humph. She knocked his hoof away, "I don't won't iron circlets." She tackled him upwards with a few wingflaps; this demon was taller than her. She bounced off him and rolled between his back legs, singing, "Weeeeeeee! That's fun!" She smiled.

 

Maven sighed, "The birds are follwoing the music. I'm going to use them to create a distraction for whatever's waiting at the Asylum; They were running away. And it was precisely because you hadn't asked a question that I said that. I am... open to conversation."

(Really? Your going to run towards a demon that can only use his powers by touching you?)

 

As Sapphire was underneath him, Gama was able to paint a single, orange streak on her back. The new pant lost its orange color and became black. Anything that touched the back mark in even the lightest way would cause serious pain. "The Makeup of Thin Skin."

(What am I supposed to do, here? Sapphire's crazy. She also hit you. So...)

 

"... You're make up is wet..." she said. She shjivered as a gust of wind went over her back and she felt a stinging sensation. "And a little bit painful. A little bit." She backed away slowly and drew her knife. How'd that stupid ranking system go again? What was I, D, I think? Maybe this guy... C+?

Gama pointed to Nightfall now, still eyeing his other opponents. "You are the only one off you group who is not yet hexed. Come and fight me with honor, as you are the most capable to do so now." He gripped his brushes tightly in each hand and took a square stance.

"Oh okay then, but what do I do? There has to be something I can do to help." Her ears drooped, she was reminded that she still doesn't have a cutiemark, but she wanted to change that by joining the police force. She didn't want to be alone anymore, or at least alone with Sour Blossom.

Maven looks at her, "What are you good at doing? Forgive me if it sounds harsh, but I don't really know you, so that's some information I need to know to answer your question." A few of the birds landed on her head and she shook it, smiling. The bird chirped together in a laughing sound and took off again.

Cherry Blossom turned and it revealed that she was still a blank flank. "I can't really do anything right, but I want to protect everypony." she replied as she started tearing up. It felt embarassing to know that you're still a blank flank after you grow pass the average age of getting a cutiemark.

Maven stopped abruptly and turned. She noticed she didn't have a cutie mark and said, "Now listen here, even if you DON'T have a cutie mark, you can be good at something. What do you like doing?" She started walking again, singing a small hope tune and directing it towards Cherry Blossom.

[Nightfall 3,950]

Gama pointed to Nightfall now, still eyeing his other opponents. "You are the only one off you group who is not yet hexed. Come and fight me with honor, as you are the most capable to do so now." He gripped his brushes tightly in each hand and took a square stance.

 

The guns seemed to move in an action as if they were loaded.

"Undo the make-up you put on my friends, get back to the Demon realm, and stay there."

His voice was still 'weird.' he flew just a bit higher so he thought he couldn't be touched by the demon's make-up. His wing beats grew strong and few and far between, yet he just hovered there with his glowing white eyes.

"I don't even know..." Cherry Blossom replied with a soft tone. "I just want to protect everypony. Even if I don't get my cutiemark in the process," she implied as tears continued running down her cheeks. "I don't want to be weak anymore!" the mare exclaimed as she finally burst out crying.

Maven did not know how to handle this new development. She shifted her weight, then sighed, breaking in. She hugged the mare, "There there, we're gunna go see Nightfall right now. And hope that he isn't facing off a demon." She drops the hug and starts walking again.

Cherry Blossom sat on the ground sobbing, but after she was hugged, some of the crying had ceased. But when she heard "demon" she became absolutely terrified. She hid behind a tree, and thought about what to do. After a few minutes Cherry Blossom decided to follow Maven.

That would dishonor us both, you deserve a noble end." He sprung from the ground and made a few quick strokes at Nightfall with his brushes.

 

Nightfall tried moving back quickly as to dodge, starting to fire at the demon with his magic shots. However, right hoof was barely touched by the brush, and the big gun on his right disappeared. He felt dragged down, forcing him to drop to the ground or exert more energy to stay up. He chose the energy option, and fired the big gun on his left. He knew he must kill this demon quickly, or die trying. No other option was left to him.

 

((OOC: It's like, if you have seen Ironman 2, the guns on the shoulders of the drones at the end.))

As soon as Gama hit the ground, he was hit in the chest by Nightfall's new attack. A cloud of smoke enveloped around him. When it cleared, Gama was standing in a defensive pose, protecting his face with his forearms. He lowered his arms and a drop of blood rolled down his chin from his mouth. Nightfall's attach had made a sold hit, but that was not the reason he was in pain. He slowly turned around and looked at Jack. A stream of hardened blood had shot from Jack's immobile leg like a rope and struck into Gama's back while he was distracted.

 

"But... The Makeup... of Chains." Gama said with a weaker voice.

 

"Only an amateur relies on movement to fight."

 

Gama stumbled forward, still gripping his weapons. Blood was rolling down his back.

Gama stumbled forward, still gripping his weapons. Blood was rolling down his back.

 

"Only an amateur doesn't use real energy to fight, but weapons."

Nightfall ready his attack again.

"Stand down, demon. You don't have a chance."

Nightfall thought he sounded convincing, but he realized his energy levels were dropping like a stone. He soon would have to exist this form, and even then, his demon's energy would be almost gone, leaving him with only his own energy. And he knew he could not defeat the demon on his energy alone.

Sapphire threw a knife at the demon's fore-leg and hit the joint. "Bonus points!" She tore her back open though and cringed.

 

Maven continued walking, "You know, you could be cut out for, like, a fashion career. I think you have the body..."

"I have failed..." Gama said sullenly, "Then we are not meant to succeed." He dropped his brushes. "My line of work has a very strict way of working. I have failed and therefor I should be dead. This battle is not yet over... I must pay the price of failure. You must kill me so that I may die with honor."

"I did not want to kill anything today. But the death toll will only rise if I decide to stop killing demons here."

His big gun (more like a shotgun) loaded with a final energy shot. Nightfall aimed at the demon's spine, as to severe it in such a way that he could try to decapitate the demon with as little pain as possible.

"Oh thank you, but I don't think I'm cut out for something like that. Besides, being in the spotlight infront of so many ponies is not my kind of thing." Cherry Blossom sighed as she continued following Maven by hovering. "There are probably other mares who can do better than me anyway."

Gama closed his eyes. "It is unfortunate that demons like Risho and Hirue are all that represents us. Thus I die knowing that I am not like they are. A noble end." He was not truly defeated, he could muster the strength to fight further, but he knew that their cause was greater than his.

"My parents used to tell me that there would always be somepony bigger, better, stronger than me. They taught me to follow my own path; to do what I want to do. They supported me when I decided to take up instruments, and now look at me. One scientific experiment later and I'm a hero who works with the police." She rounded a corner and saw Nightfall shoot the demon. "That. Is Captain Showoff. I mean Captain Nightfall."

As much as he didn't want to, Nightfall took the shot, which seemed to eliminate the demon. He existed his superficial form, and hoped the make-up wouldn't last too muc longer. Before he could say anything, he noticed Maven. But he tried to hide this by walking over to the demon and standing over it like he had with the other two.

"I still cannot move." Jack said, "Sapphire is injured as well and we have no time to wait for the seals to wear off!" He managed to slowly inch forward. "We cannot give up. We havent any time to wait. We must continue. There is no other option!"He continued to scoot himself toward the door.

"I want to help everypony, but when I was just a filly in Cloudsdale. I was a total laughing stock, because I never got my cutiemark. And I was never good at anything at all." Cherry Blossom let out a sigh and kicked the ground, but she let out a shriek from the pain of the impact. "Well, what do I do now?" Cherry Blossom asked in confusion. She wasn't really aware of what was going on, but she may understand at least the gist of it.
