Den waved a hoof as he saw Cherry, "Hey, where are you going? What happend at the Asylum?" he said, taking flight himself to keep pace. I hope something good. She seems to be flying away from that place as if all the demons of the vail where folowing her. Which, I suppose could be possible.

"Well everypony besides me were able to take down the criminal. I'm just heading towards the police station, but you can come with me if you want," Cherry Blossom replied as she gave Den a smile. She didn't feels as shy as she normally would anymore, but she was still terrified.

"But the place is rigged to blow, with motion sensors and everything. It's practically suicidal to go past the reception room." They slowed down and landed.

 

Sapphire slowly began to smile, "He's outside, with Cherry Blossom. He has a cello, but it cost him 75 bits and he's unhappy about it. He says he's happy I found a body, and that he's happier it wasn't at his expense. He also wants to be re-emberced for the cello somehow. He can't afford his appartment otherwise, and you've seen that place. If he can't afford that, then you can be sure he can't afford anywhere else." She giggled.

 

Sapphire was slowly feeding Den the desired information and relaxxed. "Cherry Blossom, how about I give this cello to Maven and come right back here and we can talk." Cherry Blossom nodded shyly and entered a building, sitting on a chair. Den flew off towards the Asylum.

Gama was no longer in the room, and there was no sign of where he had been. Jack approached Nightfall and waited for an opportunity to speak. "It's good to see you all well. I was afraid I had sent my favorite dimwit to his death. But you have to remember that even though you have taken soul responsibility for this city's safety, nobody is ever a one pony show. Every decision you make effects the countless ponies who care about you. You can't be a cocky kid any more."

Sapphire found another target, "And you!" she pointed a hoof at Jack, "I've told you over and over and over again to stop insulting Nightfall. Every singal time you show up he gets in danger. Every time. I've had to sit and watch it through Den's eyes, but hoof it, you're even more infuriating through my own." And then she hugged him, "But you also made him safe, which is something I value very much." She gave him a brownie and went back to Nightfall, leaning against him.

Cherry Blossom was there sitting in a chair of some kind of postal building, waiting for Den to come back. A quick thought went through her mind, "How was I able to talk to them so well today? I usually would just stay silent in front of everypony... Oh Sour Blossom, you've been my friend for my whole life."

Jack had no response for Sapphire. He simply smiled as best he could and spoke to Nightfall again. "you're going to need your spirit energy to be stronger than your demon energy if you don't want to experience complications. If you don't mind, I have a pain free way to help you and it doesn't involve demons at all."

Den set the cello down outside the cafeteria in a place where it would be easily spotted and flew out. He was soon at the place where he left Cherry Blossom and walked inside. He looked around and quickly found her, "Hey, you alright? You're looking a little... I dunno, lonely."

Cherry Blossom noticed Den come back, so she replied, "Oh I'm just... Sitting around that's all."

 

She got off of the chair and started hovering above th ground. "How did you develop another personality? I mean one that could change your physical appearance."

"When I was a new cop, I was assigned to undercover operations. I had gotten a drug dealer and was about to get into a cartel. Nightfall came in and as I was reporting to him, started bleeding out. His injuries... They should've killed him. So I carried him to the hospital. A doctor came in, and tried to make Nightfall his mind-slave. He had three foals with him, all under his control. They assaulted us and I was forced to smash their mind-control backpacks, which pretty much drove me insane. Through that insanity, Sapphire was born. It was a slow process, but eventually our personalities split. As have our bodies, since that incident in the portal. But I can still feel her, like a comfortable presence. In here," he tapped his chest, "We can talk, even sense what the other one is sensing. I'm actually beginning to think that she can use me as a conduit for her magic." He looked at Cherry, "What about yourself?"

"I developed her from loneliness... Everypony in Cloudsdale would just laugh at me when I was a filly, because I wasn't good at anything. Some would call me stupid or dumb. And nopony wanted to be my friend since they believed they would end up like me. I was so shy and sensitive, but I would have a sudden change in personality whenever I was alone for a long period of time. The only physical change that I would ever have is my eyes turning into a bloody red color," Cherry Blossom replied as she sighed and looked away.

Den nodded, and had a sudden urge to hug her. He did, and then said, "About a month after my mother died, I was confronted by my school's bully. I guess I use to have a personality that attracted bullies because back then I was his favorite kid to pick on. Anyhow, he approached me, started beating on me. This was actually the day I got my cutie mark, by the way. As he was bashing me, he started berating my mother. How it was weird she had so many kids, how she mustive slept around. My last straw was that she was killed 'on the job.' He said it just like that, like my mother was an exotic dancer who worked street corners. I punched him as hard as I could. It knocked him out and dislocated his jaw. No pony talked to me after that, not even teachers." He sighed*

Cherry Blossom blushed a little when she was hugged by then, but she hugged him back and listened. "I understand your pain, butyou've dislocated his jaw?!" She was speechless for a moment. Den had injured somepony during their childhood, but nopony can change the past.

He nodded, "He was talking about my dead mother right after she died. I didn't really restrain my punch. If I could go back, I think I would've just knocked him out instead, but I was always protective of my family. As my partner, you're practically family," he said.

"It's all in the past and I shouldn't treat you differently for something done in the past. Though I know how it may feel when somepony mocks your parents, but I'm just an embarrassment to my parents." Cherry Blossom said as she turned back to Den. She was feeling happy from the last line Den had spoken.

"If you're an embarrassment to your parents, then I must be an embarrassment to pony-kind," he says, "If somepony told you that, they might need to get their heads checked. Look at you; your cute, independent, and a good listener. What do you say to getting some food? All the excitement earlier made me hungry"

Seiryu reapeered in an abandoned alleyway in the same cloud of smoke that he had disappeared in. "Good to know that you managed to escape as well," he said to what seemed to be no one.

 

"Yes, the portal was not opened for as long as I would have liked, but we all learn to cope, don't we?" another voice said, "Some of the abilities these ponies have are very interesting to me. I cannot wait for them to teach them to me."

Cherry Blossom blushed a little more at Den's last remark. "I-I guess you're right, and I am a bit famished myself. So I'd love to go eat out somewhere." she added as she pulled out a small coin purse full of bits. "I'll pay for whatever you want to order," Cherry Blossom reluctantly spoke as she gave him a happy look.

He was about to protest then shut his mouth; He'd just spent all his money on a new cello for Maven. He facehooved, "Okay, but next time is on me." He openned the door for her, "After you. And careful, the threshold's a little high." He began thinking of questions to ask the mare.

"Why thank you very much Den." Cherry Blossom gave Den a happy look then proceeded inside of the restaurant. "Oh my...I haven't really came to a restaurant down here in Manehattan, especially with a stallion." The mare implied as she went to take a seat at one of the tables.

He flushed, he hadn't really had a mare talk to him like that before. He sat down opposite of her, scratching the back of his head, "I haven't really gone to restruants ever; no money. But especially not with a mare before," he said, nervously. He was sure Sapphire would've teased him, but all he got was a faint, smug feeling. She must be too far away.

Cherry Blossom looked around and picked up the menu, but she put it down a few seconds later as she said, "I-I guess it's a d-date then. I mean if you would consider it would be a date"

 

She thought about what she had just said, she'd only met this pony for a day and already this goes and happens.

"I was only in their presence for a short time. I truly cannot specify anything about their abilities, yet. They did have great power." Seiryu replied.

Nightfall leaned back against Sapphire.

"All right, Jack. I'll try my best. You should know I've always tried my best. I've never gone at something half-heartedly. So please, don't accuse me, even if it's to motivate me, 'k?"

Nightfall hugged Sapphire.

"And at least you're ok."

 

"Right now your spiritual energy is weaker than your demon energy." Jack explained to Nightfall, "If this continues, you will experience... Complications. However I have a quick fix, if you're willing to do a little work. All I need you to do is stand up and stay still. This won't hurt a bit."

Sapphire grins, "Nighty, Den's on a date. With Cherry Blossom!" she giggled, rolling on the floor laughing, "Cupid strikes again! Can you see a more unlikely match? That'd be like MAVEN hooking up with Cherry Blossom." Maven flushed and kicked the ground, How does she DO that?

 

Den thought about it, "Yah. Yah, I'd be cool with calling this a date... Except..." he paused, and sighed, "I'm making you pay for it. Isn't it a guy who usually pays for dates?"
