Here are the Rules and Guidelines for Equestria Divided
Below are the rules and guidelines for roleplaying in the Equestria Divided setting, please read and post your acceptance and understanding of the below.

1. Only Unicorns, Pegasus and Earth ponies can be used for OC creation out of the pony races, no pure blooded alicorns though on a case to case basis ‘lesser’ alicorns can possibly be allowed (the player will need to justify and detail how and why their OC is a alicorn and must accept it if I say no to their pony).
*The only pure alicorns allowed, representing all three races of ponies, are Celestia and Luna while a lesser alicorn is one that can claim the princesses as family but normally distantly. Lesser alicorns share the physical traits of an alicorn but are less powerful then the princesses, having for the most part the same potential as normal ponies as well as a normal lifespan. The reason for this is because as per the show alicorns are an extremely rare and yes special.

Other races that can be played are zebra, griffins, 'young' dragons (around pony size), and deer (fan race I will offer, if you are interested we can discuss you being this race in PM).
2. Do not have your OC's Special Talent be too unusual or powerful, for most ponies their Special Talent is something they can do well and are extremely skilled at. Possible reasonable Special Talents are research of a certain subject, a type of farming (or aspect of farming), a type or branch of magic (an example being 'come to life spells' which animate inanimate objects), an aspect of weather control, at type of flying maneuver, a fighting style, exc. There is plenty of possibly if you’re creative and imaginative enough.
What is not allowed: anything that could be taken as too powered or can be used to ‘god-mode’ such as controlling/effecting others emotions or allow one to overcome any threat, or also anything that many ponies could have like great intelligence or manipulativeness, using some mundane skill like music to create a magical effect especially if you’re not a unicorn, exc.
Yet I can make exceptions if you think your pony out and explain, make it reasonable, and within balanced power limits.
3. Please put some time and effort into your OC's bios, I have seen many bios others have made I could do in 10 minutes… if that. A character is meant to be detailed and well thought out as the more you work on creating your character the better you can play said character. One thing I personally have always loved about roleplaying is that you have the chance of creating a character with a rich history and life. A character with their own struggles, their own worries, and with their own hopes and dreams. Then once you have finished creating your character you play out their life in the game, you can consider how they would react and what they would do in any give situation. It can be challenging, but it will be well worth it.
4. No God-Modding or instant hits. You may control your pony and your pony only, no one else’s without their permission but at the same time you cannot dodge or overcome everything thrown at you. Equestria Divided is arguably a dangerous setting and your pony can die… especially if your OC does something that could be called stupid.
A good roleplay is where reasonable fair interaction takes place. If your character has spent most of his time reading books he will not do as well in battle as one that has worked with his hooves outside most of his life. There is also the question of what race your OC is; in MLP:FiM the strength of an Earth Pony will on average be greater than that of a Unicorn.
Your OC cannot be faster than Rainbow Dash, or more magically gifted then Twilight Sparkle, or better with animals then Fluttershy, or able to break the laws of physics/have the pinkie sense of Pinkie Pie, exc.
5. Remember that Equestria Divided is 15 years after the disappearance of the princesses Celestia and Luna and thus around 15 years in the future of the MLP:FiM setting.
6. All ponies have flaws, not just flaws in personalities but in a pony’s abilities as well.
7. No real swearing, pony swears are okay though and could be a fun way of getting creative.
8. No having relationship or friendships with 'Twilight and friends', at least not starting out.
9. If you have story ideas, suggestions, or question please PM me, I don't bite and I am a reasonable guy.
10. I may add to these rules at any time but I will give good reason for doing so.

I would like to join this roleplay plz. Are we roleplaying as one of the factions? Example:House Whitgold. ps I havnt decided who i want to roleplay as yet.

I am still putting everything together but I do wish to encourage that the OCs submitted have some sort of connection with the six factions, whether by having family or friends being a part of it, friends or family (or themselves) being harmed by one or more factions, or even being low level members themselves or supporters of one of the factions.

 

This will be for plotline reasons partly because it will create the challenge of there being some conflict between the ponies as they will be 'guided' to work with each other.

Simply put the OC ponies with connections to one of the six factions, the houses and perhaps the cult of laughter, will need to put aside their differences and even eventually need to admit... that the faction they follow or support is wrong. They will need to become strong and discover what is actually going on. They will see for themselves through completing the assignments given to them one that has brought them together, the dark side of the six factions and the high level members that control them.

Hmm I feel you OC needs some work, for a few reasons. One is that you can't just pick intellegence as your talent, a brain as a cutie mark not fitting in how Cutie Marks work, many ponies can be extremely intellegent and manipulative as well and you need a pony name too. Another thing is how your pony is a fake, pretender, that likes causing conflct... which is not good if you wante to be apart of House Earthborn as the Supreme Commander Appleajack does not take kindly to those that are dishonest and would cause trouble for her.

House Earthborn as a whole would be much staped by the outlook of Applejack, and if one knows not only Applejack from the show but the one shown in the House Earthborn page... deceit, lies, and toublemaking are not look on well by those that are members of House Earthborn.

Lastly, it isn't very detailed or well thought out. You have not told me much of his personality and nearly none of his past. Where was he born and raised, does he have anyone he was close to? Does he have any family, what was it like for him growing up in a Equestria that had once been so good and so peaceful, his feelings on the disappearance of the Celestia and Luna... and finally how Equestria was then divided by six ponies so different from each other. Finally, how did he gain his cutie mark and how does his talent work?

 

These are all important questions and changes that I would see answered in some way or another in your pony's bio before

Yes you may play Twilight but I ask that you first create a bio for ED Twilight Sparkle, taking what is in MLP:FiM as well as Equestria Divided. Consider how much Twilight has changed in 15 years since the disappearance of the princesses, what led up to her becoming the 'offical' leader of House Moon and Star.

I ask this because it will tell me whether or not you are the right fit for Twilight Sparkle, though from what I have seen of your other bio I will probably need to work with you on it.

 

On you bio of Starstruck I have a few questions and concerns both with her history and her appearance. Starstruck is, well... more than a bit 'whited out', the colors seem unnatural in the paleness of her character pallet. Also I have a concern/question on her being blind, and that is that eclipses don't work like that. Yes it is advised that you don't look that the sun during an eclipse but it cannot blind you, at most one would have some pain and be forced to look away, but it won’t blind you. Also being blind will realistically make becoming a Wonderbolt impossible, and flying dangerous. Heck Rainbow Dash the fastest flier in Ponyville (and perhaps all of Equestria) crashed fairly often with her sight, and she has been practicing for who knows how many years.

Freespirit might not fit in the setting and there is the question of would Fluttershy want her in House Everfree? While the house might be the least/against 'goverment' does not mean Fluttershy isn't in complete control over her house. To be honest from what little of a bio you have I feel she would fit best as an 'agent for hire', the sort of pony others get to cause confusion for their enemies.

What is Winds' talents amd what do you mean by "for his 'cool' abilities"? You understand ever pony has a single 'Talent' correct, a single thing in which their cutie mark is for? Again friends, family, ponies he knows his life growing up. Can you give more detail on how he got his cutie mark?

Yes, you can make a new OC or just flesh out the OC you have. Creating detail and depth does wonders for any character.

Wait, the Equestria Divided setting was at one point the Main MLP Setting, with the disappearance of the sisters being what would eventually lead Twilight and friends down the path that would bring them into conflict with each other. Celestia and Luna would never hang a pony or kill them unless the pony did that which would warrant being put to death. Things did not start going down hill until after the princesses disappearred as such these protests and such wouldn't have likely happened until after Celestia and Luna disappeared.

Ok I had a general idea to flesh out my oc, i wanted to run it by you first before i write in detail or anything. What if Jacob ( I know it's not a pony name, i just really suck at picking names...i used him in other roleplays before and i kinda dont wanna change his name but im willing to if it really bugs you that much) was the first succesful alicorn experiment by Twilight, that way he could be a part of the house moon and star? Like i sayed it's a general idea so im gonna work out the kinks if you approve my idea.

What if Jacob ( I know it's not a pony name, i just really suck at picking names...i used him in other roleplays before and i kinda dont wanna change his name but im willing to if it really bugs you that much) was the first succesful alicorn experiment by Twilight, that way he could be a part of the house moon and star? Like i sayed it's a general idea so im gonna work out the kinks if you approve my idea.

 

At this time, and most likely throughout most of my campaign if not all of it, there has not been a single succesful alicorn experiment. It just has not worked, and I will actually be playing it that many times it has failed horriblly (monstrosities being created at times or ponies dying slowly and painfully).

Yet while the unicorns of House Moon and Star would believe themselves to be superior to both earth ponies and pegasus, thus treat those that are not unicorns as lesser... there is nothing to say that non-unicorns cannot be apart of the house. As such you could have your OC not be a unicorn yet be a member of Twilight's house.

Sighs, look I'm sorry but he cannot have been a windigo at some point, nor would it make any sense for him to have been around since the days of Starswirl the Bearded. His talent can be ice based magic, he can even think he is a windigo but he can't actually become one nor was he one before being transformed. Anything involving windigos must be just in his head and maybe sharing the coloring of one. Edited October 4, 2012 by EquestrianScholar
