Awesome series, probably my favorite anime. I've seen all of the original episodes, as well and End of Eva and the two current rebuilds, and I'm looking forward to the third rebuild which is out soon. The series can be quite confusing, and the ending is a total mindfuck, but nonetheless I think it's a brilliant series.

Ive heard of the end but never seen it But my fav anime is soul eater but ive seen the evas and the angels dont know what the angels are wether there good or bad so the whole thing is a mindfuck to me

I never found why fans hated the last 2 episodes so much. I found the "alternate ending" movies to be unnecessary. We were exploring the insanity found in each character's minds (especially Shinji) and diving deep into their most inner fears. I mean, it probably not the best way to end the series, but it was still very mystifying and filled with special moments.

 

Also, Asuka's mindfuck is probably the best one out of the whole series:

the end was so wierd though like i was confused wether everyone died or got their souls back and why the Mass production Evangelions killed themselves and had weird faces and did all the evangelions die so many questions

Perhaps it was meant to be that way. To use our imaginations or deduceful thinking as to what exactly happened to the Angels.

 

Besides, the creator was a psycho, so what more do you possibly expect? lol

Definately the best anime back then. Used to watch it on Adult Swim when I was about 14, but never get to watch the entire eipisodes to see where it'll end. It's a shame that they don't have it on Hulu, would've been great to watch it.

This was a pretty good anime, but the ending was very odd and the movies for this were also very odd. I think the new movies are much better. They are just easier to follow and the they aren't trying to make it like the old seres. The first movie did, but the second was very different. With new ways on telling the story and adding a new charter.

This speaks to me alot. Guess what I'm a fan of the series and actually do understand the highly convoluted ending. But is does say alot of good points.

A good fan is a person that takes what they like as it is and acknowledges it's flaws. I like mlp too but I dissect it and unearth it's flaws as well and acknowledge them.
