gaming Just started a "High Sage" file in Oblivion

I've only played the game through once so far and it was as more or less a basic warrior class, using whatever gave me the highest attack power and defensive power and such.

This time I did something a little more interesting, though not exactly creative: A "High Sage" character that specializes in Destruction, Alteration, Restoration, Mysticism, Illusion, Speechcraft and Mercantile with attributes favoring Willpower and Intelligence.

Went with The Lady as my sign for the 10 points to Willpower and Endurance. I thought about the Mage but I figured my Magicka was gonna increase with every level anyway.

I also chose Argonian so I wouldn't have to worry about resisting diseases so much and I could automatically breathe underwater without having to cast a spell.

Overall, this build seemed to fit the name "High Sage" best because when you think of a Sage you not only think of one who knows magick very well but is also good at appeasing others (hence Speechcraft) with wisdom of the ages. Yeah, I made him as old as possible too.

Throughout this run I'm gonna use only magick and staves, anything that's not those or a good mage's robe will be sold for cashmonies. Accessories will be kept, of course, as they are useful no matter what your class is.

So, to bring this long and likely to be ignored description to an end, it's not exactly creative but it does have this epic feel to it and it'll be good to explore something different from straight up swordplay and archery and such.

On a side note: Next time I play the game with a new character I'll likely start with an assassin type character, joining the Dark Brotherhood and Thieve's Guild and everything. After that I wanna go a little more unique and try an Alchemist (For quests) and also a general traveling merchant. No particular purpose to the merchant part but to just create a more natural feel, though the sad thing is that I can't really trade with anyone but other merchants.

In a way though, it's Torneko, Oblivion style.

Oh, I also forgot to mention the character's name is Matthias.

A lot similar to me in a way.

In Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim, I create my character to something I call a "Spellsword".

Specializations include a mixture of thief and wizard abilities.

(Sneak, Illusion, Conjuration, Pickpocket, Speech)

You'd see him casting invisibility with conjured blades. I like travelling lightweight.

I'm a guy who also enjoys messing around with the AI, so I join the Dark Brotherhood and Thieves Guild mainly, but hey. In all Elder Scrolls games you can join whatever the buck you want.

I go with Imperials.

Oblivion was the greatest game ever, and if you like it I would recommend Skyrim.

Oblivion was my first Elder Scrolls game and to this day I've still only played like an hour of Daggerfall and that's about it. Skyrim is next on my list, of course.

Still, it's a great game. When I played it before, I merely played it as a game. In this run I'm actually going to explore more. Not that I didn't explore a lot the first time around but this time it's going to be much more of an experience because I'm actually going to read books and papers rather than just skim through them for clues or activate them to get stat boosts and such. Plus messing around with unique character builds will be fun. I'm especially looking forward to that merchant one I thought up.

You mean sombody else has created an Argonian other than me?!

The good thing with all magic classes on that game are the easy leveling. If you dont mind sacraficing the bit of your soul that allows you to have fun (like me) you can sit around repetitavly casting summon, illusion and alteration spells, and probaly more. This can zoom you through those talents and quite a few levels to, if dont mind it being incredibly boring that is.

I usualy create a buffed warrior type of Argonian first time, as i did with Morrowing, Oblivion and Skyrim and then make a magic class for the second playthrough (who is usualy Argonian to) so i can get a good play of both types, though i usualy end up just making a charater thats good at everything, just slightly better at what i choose at the start.

Argonians > All

In spite of the reputation in Tamriel. :D

Though my first character in Oblivion was an Imperial.

The only thing I'm sad to see in the PS3 version (which I have) is the lack of this thing called the Thieve's Den. I hear it's only in the 360 and PC versions which kinda sucks. Oh well, at least I still have the Thieves Guild in general so I can do that whenever I want. (Actually gonna focus on that and the Dark Brotherhood when I go for the Assassin build)
