gaming Europa Universalis 3

Hello everypony! I've been meaning to make this thread for a while now, since I noticed that there is no thread here for EU3, so here I am!

What is EU3, some of you are asking? Well, Europa Universalis 3 is a grand strategy game created by Paradox Interactive for the PC. It spans from the years 1399-1821 as of the latest expansion pack, Divine Wind. It allows you to take control of basically any country that existed in history, from one of the many German states, to one of the Japanese daimyos, or even a native tribe in the Americas or Africa. There's a total of 250 countries last I checked to choose from, all ranging in difficulty from easy to near-impossible to survive as(GRANADA I'M LOOKING AT YOU!), depeding on location in the world, number of provinces owned, etc.

The game is also really complex, which can drive away many new players unfortunately. However, after you get past your rocky first few times playing the game and figure everything out, then it becomes a blast to play. There's nothing funner than taking some unknown country like, say, Aachen(located in Germany) and doing things like take over all of Spain(...don't ask why I was a minor German country with full control over the Spanish peninsula >_>). Or conquer half the world while never firing a shot(a fun challenge, really, for the politcally minded players :)).

But anyways, yeah, you guys should play this game if you don't already! If you do, then post some of the silly/awesome things you've done or seen happen(the AI goes really off the rails in this game from historical fact).

Also, for those who have played before, how about we start a multiplayer session? I've done multiplayer before, so I know how to set it up, but I'm just wondering if anybody would care to also play. It's bound to be fun!

I got this game free with PC Gamer magazine a few weeks ago, and I have to say I'm thoroughly enjoying it. I love strategy games so I sort of already knew what sort of game it was going to be from another Paradox game, Crusader Kings. I built my epic Scottish Empire by conquering most of Africa, Oceania and North America, whilst being fought by Spain and France, so it really does pose a good challenge. It is not the most welcoming game for newcomers, but having a look at the tutorials can help.

And, in terms of AI going off the rails, my game has the grand empire of Oman ruling over most of the Middle East and India, as well as the Kazakh empire ruling over most of Northern Asia. And also a strange case in the Byzantine empire fighting back against the Ottomans and defeating them. And yeah, I'd love to try multiplayer some time if I ever have any spare time.

I have this game and have tried to play it so many times....however it is really confusing. It's like the EVE online (as to other MMOs that are far more beginner friendly) of strategy games.
