So I need your oppinions...

 

I'm thinking about changing my Facebook picture to the one I have on MLP Forums.

 

As you can see, it's my OC, but what I'm nervous about, is what all of my friends and family would think of me. It would be a lot of explaining to do if they were to find out.

 

I am not a closet brony at school, but almost half of my 310 FB friends are family and cousins. If they found out about me liking MLP, it would be awkward.

 

Anyway I was thinking that I should express myself, and that my friends and family should accept what I like. I'm not sure though...

 

Should I change my FB pic to my pony??

Of course! Do whatever you want with your Facebook! If your parents or friends don't understand it, then simply explain yourself and then have a deeper conversation! They might not understand it, but at the end of the day, you'll feel better about yourself by simply following your independence.

 

Trust me, I have an anime background on my FB and got some "questionable" responses, but hey, I am merely expressing myself! If people don't like it, tough! They can't change you.

You want to know what I think? I think that you should not use Facebook at all. It's a piece of shit. Since I'm sure that won't happen then my answer to your question is that no, you shouldn't. Not because of what your family and friends would think because who gives a fuck what they think. The reason you should not is because the profile picture is suppose to be a picture of yourself. Facebook is shitty enough, I'm not going to condone someone making it worse by destroying the logic and purpose of one of it's elements.

My dad's side of the family is Chinese and German... so what if they find out? They're messed up anyway!

 

My mom's side of the family though, is all of the European countries. They are "Molly mormon" and they don't understand me well... It's kinda awkward talking to them because they are so 'perfect' and I am so... I don't know.

Now this is my own personal opinion, but it really bugs me when people have their profile pictures not actually be a picture of themselves. I see profile pictures as a way to quickly identify without having to look at their name (that, and a good amount of my friends share first names). However, don't let your fear of being ridiculed for you profile picture be a reason not to do it.

If your friends judge you based on your interests, I wouldn't really think they are really good friends IMO. Your friends should like you for you. And who knows, maybe one of your other friends shares the same position as you.
