The mare smiled down at the unicorn, "Welcome, Vinyl, to the sisterhood of the night." The mare looked directly at Greylight and winked, then dissipated into a silver mist, that floated upwards towards the moon. A silver circlet was deposited at Vinyl's feet, and Aelicine grinned, "Welcome, High Preistess."

Vinyl stood up and picked up the circlet. She looked at Aelicine in bemusement. "Um, H-high Priestess? Why would she choose me? I've only just joined." She paused for a moment, then put on the circlet and stood up tall. She looked up to the moon and thought, "There is a reason for everything, isn't there?"

Velnir shrugged, "We try to survive impending invasion?"

 

Aelicine smiled, "Because, I am- was, the only high preistess. It means, religiously, we are equals. Don't worry, I'll handle the blood-rituals." The area in the circle glowed faintly, and five confused looking ponies apeared. They all had a crescent-shaped blades. "Preistess, what do we do?"

 

Aelicine grinned, "It's simple, you protect us both. She is your New Moon."

 

They blink at Aelicine, and a smaller pony apeered, "I'm sorry preistess, I had to grab somethings." He trips and silver items spew across the floor, and Aelicine rolls her eyes, "They closed it on you again, didn't they?" The 5 other ponies look slightly ashamed. They split, with the small one and 2 other ponies with Aelicine, who began her explanations, "These are your Lunar Guardians. They will do whatever you ask, as long as it doesn't endanger you. Their primary duty is to protect you, so they will not compromise this. Ullius, give her a code." The small pony dug through his bag, and grabbed a handful of scrolls. He presented them with pride to Vinyl, while Alli said, "These are the basic rulesto our faith. Syline will guide you, but you should read them before you accidently offend somepony. Besides, they are interesting."

Greylight didn't feel fully safe around these ponies anymore.

"Look... OK, so it's getting dark. Are we going to attack at night or-"

She paused. They seemed busy with their things.

"This Syline... this Moon Goddess... what would she say about attacking now, when they are most vulnerable?"

Aelicine sighs, "She does not like this war, however, she says she will shroud us tonight, should we decide to attack. I get a large impression of suffering, it is very hard to read. It's almost asif a different goddess is trying to communicate with me," she stated flatly.

Vinyl looked over the basic rules and beliefs. "Well it seems as though I've already been acquainted with the third one. Seeing as how I am a newly made priestess and you've been doing this for a while, is there anything that you need to teach me?" Vinyl was very interested in her new religion and wanted to learn the ins and outs of everything about it.

Aelicine was spinning in circles, and she smiled weekly at the empress, "Perhaps. I'll probably have to teach the different circles. Can I have, just a moment, to sort out what's going on in the metaphysical realm. Oh, another thing to teach you. Here, close your eyes, and try to focus on feeling Syline. It's difficult, and taxing, and, like right now, can be confusing, but incredibly useful." Aelicine's eyes glow, and she sees a conference in session. 6 different ponies, 3 males, 3 females, were arguing immensely with each other. Each represented the gods of a race's religion, and none of them were happy. However, Syline seemed torn, while the sun god was squarely with the Pegasi. Maple was desperately pleading with her, and a granite-like pony was preparing for war.

Aelicine sighs, "She does not like this war, however, she says she will shroud us tonight, should we decide to attack. I get a large impression of suffering, it is very hard to read. It's almost asif a different goddess is trying to communicate with me," she stated flatly.

 

"Shouldn't we, then, send some ponies over as to try to reconcile our broken relationships? Like I suggested before?"

She shot a glance at Vinyl, who had earlier said to not send a search party out.

"I think we would hate to upset her, right? Especially when she just got a new priestess."

As Aelicine watched, a pegasi god, the one of wind, began looking uncertain. This caused the whole comitee to erupt into arguments. Syline looked straight at Aelicine, and apologetically sent her back to her own body. She fell over, blinking from the backwash of the other realm.

Vinyl offered a hoof and helped the priestess to her hooves. "Are you alright? What did you see?" Vinyl felt like a small filly in the Canterlot Archives. There was so much knowledge and she wanted to know it all. Though she knew it would be impossible, she wanted to learn as much as she could

Aelicine was disoriented, and leaned heavily on Vinyl for a bit. After she got steady, she openned her mouth, and croaked, then couphed a few times. One of the servants brought her a purplish liquid, which she drank. It was madefrom the moon berries, which gave her more energy, "I saw all of our gods meeting at a war confrence,"she said, finally.

Aelicine was disoriented, and leaned heavily on Vinyl for a bit. After she got steady, she openned her mouth, and croaked, then couphed a few times. One of the servants brought her a purplish liquid, which she drank. Greylight was beginning to take interest.

"And there will be a war, right..?"

However, it seemed Greylight only half muttered this to herself. She didn't want to get into the goddess's face with her question, especially when Syline wasn't even her goddess.

Aelicine shook her head, "It's hard to tell, the gods and goddesses are split. Right now, yes, you could pull of a war, but soon... Soon you would lack the favor of the spirit realm." She held her head, "Am I dismissed, Vinyl. I have to find a place to- to officially set up." She looked a tad bit sick, but the moonlight intensified yet again,, and her cut sealed over.

"Uh, y-yes, sister. If it is a suitable location, you can set up in my room in the ambassador's quarters." Vinyl bid farewell to the commander and told her to do with the plans what she thought was right. She escorted Aelicine to her room. "Well, this is it. There's only one bedroom and the main room should be fine for the setup."

Greylight stood for many moments, alone and head hung. She eventually dispatched a group of Pegasi to go to the Earth Pony Kingdom border to discuss terms of the prisoner's release and to get the rations they needed from the Earth Ponies. She hoped the Earth Ponies would not misjudged to Pegasi, so she sent them unarmed.

Aelicine smiled, "You are very kind." She then proceed to collapse on the floor. The six ponies rolled their eyes in unison, "Sometimes I think she prefers the floor." "Do you have the cushions?" "What are you talking about, Newbie always has the cushions." The small one rolled his eyes, and brought out a two-cloth blanket. He magically filled it with stuffing, and set it on the floor, where the six ponies set her down. Once she was on top of it, they turned to Vinyl, awaiting orders. (Good night)

Greylight knocked on the room of the door. She hoped this was the room that Vinyl was in with the priestess... Aelicine, or whatever her name was. She meanwhile tried to figure out how to word what she had done to Vinyl, and just got irritated with herself and decided she would tell Vinyl straight up what she had done.

Vinyl simply looked back at the six ponies in confusion. "Well what do you expect of me? Just do what you would normally do, I guess. If you can, bring her into the bedroom and lay her on the bed." Vinyl heard a knock on the door and opened it up to find the commander standing outside. "Oh, uh... Commander. I wasn't expecting you."

[Nightfall 3,950]

The commander shook her head.

"I- I couldn't do it," she said, looking at the unconscious priestess.

"I can't start a war right now. I know I was ready, but..."

She hesitated.

"... But times change," she shrugged. She had been constantly staring at the floor. She looked Vinyl in the eyes finally after a moment of silence.

"I've sent some Pegasi to try to work out a deal to get the prisoner and some food."

"Fun... Right... Well... Ok. I'll see what we can do."

He sighed and leaned back on his bed, still shaking from his encounter with the now fatherless families.

 

Don't fret Fire Blade. I'll let you rest for now. And maybe....just maybe ill let you go. If your breed will call off their troops. Cause id really hate to kill any unicorns, but i really don't mind doing so.

Windscar was about to fly to Surge when she saw something flying in the distance. She goes to them.....What are you going here? Oh. Captain Windscar. Where have you been? The other troops have been looking for you. What have you been doing? She could not tell them the truth so......I'm here on a recon mission. Commander herself asked me to come here. I'm still gathering information. So far i have made friends the leader. Martin??? No General Surge. And i have gained a nice bit of info from him. So what are you here for? We are here to discuss the terms of a prisoner's freedom. Prisoner? Do they mean Fire Blade? But...hes a unicorn. Also we are in need of food. And we have information that the EP have been holding back on our rations. Have you found that to be true? Well they have. But they have our rations as well. They have been holding back on us till we return Martin. But they are on the brink of war with the unicorns over the death of two guards. But here's what I'll do. I'll take you to see Surge. Maybe you can work something out.

"Cruel pony. Now I see why our leaders don't like them at all. I just have to hold on, like the priestess said. And then, I can, um... I'll think of what I'll say to her later. Right now, I just need to stay sane. If I go back insane... what would everpony think of me?"

He sighed, his wounds sore.

Velnir barged in; he looked tired, and his new cutie mark was slightly bigger than before. He through a package in his cell, "For you wounds. Fail to put them on, and there's a 8 chance of painful infection. You would wish it would kill you, but trust me, it's not strong enough. Surge, we need to talk."

 

Aelicine shivered in her sleep, then shot up to her hooves, eyes wide. "The pegasus gods are backing down!?" she cried, and then blushed, "Ehem, awake."

He glared at Velnir, wishing he would go away. He didn't exactly hate him, but he didn't like the torturing.

 

Greylight was startled by Aelicine's sudden awakening.

"Um..! Yes. It would seem so..."

Velnir looked at him sadly, "Here's a fun fact; when this was my daily life I contemplated killing myself every day. Did you know that I woulld've drowned myself last night if my marefriend hadn't came in at just the right moment? Why do you think I have so many scars, if I love torturing ponies?" He pointed to his chest, "Knife. I missed my heart. It hurt," he pointed to his ear, "Branch. Prevented me from falling fast enough," he pointed to his ribs, "Mace, ribs are much stronger than I thought," he heald up his wrists, "That one Suerge found me bleeding out," and finally, he reared up against a wall, and pointed out slash marks on his chest, "For failing to torture, and disobeying a commanding officer. Now then, do I have to force the salve on you, or are you going to do it yourself?"

"You're past really means nothing to me, Earth Pony," he said coldly.

"I am perfectly capable of doing it myself, without help from the one who hurt me. Obviously, you don't know who you are. You are the bandage and the pain? That would make you the unknown enemy, the one who, so to speak, 'runs with the foxes and hunts with the hounds.'"

He continued to glare.
