I’ve a fun activity for our fellow artists out there in the community to hone our skills and ease our boredom. I propose in this thread a casual trading post. The rules are simple: post a picture of your favourite character from the show or an OC--DRAWN BY YOU (sorry no pony-makers). Anyone that takes a fancy can draw the character for you. It's courtesy to reciprocate the gesture. Hopefully in this manner, no one will be left out. Please don’t spam the thread with works unless you’re really going to draw for others and even then, try to space them out a bit. Art takes time, but with enough of us I'm sure this thread will remain lively.

Mane: dark blue and the stripe is black

Coat:blue

eyes: light blue

I use my iPad, no stylus, and I use Adobe Ideas. No vectors, but it still turns out pretty nice!

I enjoyed it! I have to say that I love flaret, I love her dark coat, and her vibrant crystal blue eyes, and the way her straight mane falls on her face. I like how she's very misterious, magical and mischievous as well

Haha, she's not really much of a mischievous pony, she's actually quite nice and shy, but she can get very scary if you touch her friends! xD But yeah, some ponies could see her as mysterious. ^^

I tried communicating her shy-but-bubbly essence you denoted in the personality section of the character sheet so perhaps it came out as youthful instead. That's interesting... I shall have to science it...

 

And only if you really want to. I mean, it's just a pencil/line drawing of a pony and I do feel that it could have been a lot better. But I would be ever so grateful if you did

Hello all! Well, without any further to do...

 

I am very upset with the way this came out... I swear it was gonna be better! I was gonna shade it and put dialogue balloons and everything, but the app I used to do it was completely insufferable! It took me an eternity just to color it cause the app kept crashing and/or just plain erased what I colored, it was crazy! If there's a lesson to be learned here, it's that if you were gonna pick up adobe ideas, get that, don't let your friend talk you into getting iDraw.

Anyway, I hope you still like it, I tried to combine the way you draw ponies (Sweetjeans) with my cartoon style, this is also my first attempt at drawing with a vector program, I still don't know what that means, vector, but it was all my friend would go on about iDraw. Meh.

When something is a vector, it just doesn't have artifacts. I use Adobe Ideas, and it works pretty well. The thing I like best about it is the layering, it works really well. No vectors though

oh dont be upset! (tho i do understand uncooperative program troubles!) this made me laugh so hard! i love the expressions, and the body language is great. SweetJeans is pleased thank you!

 

as far as i know though, vectoring is used primarily for like.. logos and stuff. things that will be re-sized a lot, and if its not vector, the image can get really pixelated. i dont see the allure of vectoring a regular digital image. i use .png to preserve transparent backgrounds, or .gif if its animated/needs to be smaller file size.
