gaming Best video game love interests

I only have three rules to go with this:

  • Their has to be indications in the video games of a romantic relationship, so no Princess Sally.
  • The character has to originate from video games and not come via adaptation, so no Catwoman.
  • No crossover game pairings, so no Snake/Samus.
Well that's all the rules I have. You are not limited to love interests for playable characters, and you can use optional love interests.

I'd have to say Tifa Lockhart from FFVII is the best there is.

Here's a girl that lost everything, yet she doesn't mope over it. She doesn't even concern herself with her pain. The entire game she focuses on Cloud and making him feel better. Even when the world is falling apart, to her it can wait if she can be there for him. In addition; even though she punches wolves, dragons, and robots; she still has a sensitive side. She likes flowers and loves the idea of Cloud being her savior. She's a very interesting and complex woman.

Tifa is definitely one of the best, although I don't think she is the absolute best. I'm not sure if she is the best either, but Yuna from Final Fantasy X definitely deserves acknowledgement.

At the end of FFX-2, depending on your choice in the game, she doesn't just save her love interest, with the help of the fayth she brings Tidus into existence. In fact, she spends the entire game adventuring in order to bring him back. Even during the original FFX, she and Tidus spend the entire trip to Zanarkand uplifting eachother from their sorrows and protecting one another. She demonstrates a great deal of strength and willingness to sacrifice throughout both games.

Rinoa from Final Fantasy VIII was also very good. I can't think of any non-Final Fantasy examples right now, unfortunately.
