planning Equestria vs. Griffons (need help planning my first RP)

I need some help starting up my first RP. I have a general Idea of what I need to do, I've participated in RP's before, but never created one. My vague idea of a plot or story: In the future, about 25 years after season 2 ending. The Hierarchy is no more, instead the Equestrian Council governs Equestria. This council is headed by the Princesses and the mane 6. Soon after the creation of the Council, the king of Griffons declared war on Equestria. This is where the players step in, they become either a Pegasus, Unicorn, Earth pony, or Griffin. They can either be on the Equestrian side or on the side of Griffons.

 

I hope to hear from someone for help soon, Thankz. :wub:

I think that the first thing you need to decide is if the war already is running for a long time or if it just has started. (Even a version where the war starts during the RP is possible, though not so easy to lead.)

 

Then you need a reason for the war - why did the Griffons attack Equestria? I'm pretty sure you do have a reason already, but anyway^^

 

Third is the technology they are able to use. Are they fighting with rocks and sticks (plus Twilight's magic MG from A Canterlot Wedding) or do they have guns more advanced that Pinkie's party cannon?

 

I guess the best thing is "learning by doing". If you want to start the RP soon, I'd offer to co-lead it, plan side plots and help choose the characters to participate.

I accept your offer! and I'll probably start the RP this week, but I'll also be a bit busy w/ My birthday and stuff. I'm going to try to get as much done on here as I can though, so I should be able to start it either Monday or Tuesday. Oh and the reason they went to war was because the king of Griffons was really the Changeling Queen in disguise, she declared war for revenge on Equestria, or at least that's my idea. Also, thanks for the helpful tips! :wub: P.S. that's my favorite emoticon...Evar!

i would just give a warning about war RP's, when there is a war RP EVERYONE god-mods, no one likes getting kicked out of a RP for anyreason so if your going to have it that ponies can die, YOU MUST have some sort of system that make dying fare

I would like to join this is my OC is ready when you release this. Also this would be my first RP and I dont know a thing about RP this way, is there a rule book or topic where I can get the basics of RP ???

 

I know I repeat myself now, but I think with RPs you can't do too much wrong when you "learn by doing". Just imagine you're writing a story, but only for one (your) character.

There isn't too much you can do wrong anyway as long as you stay in character and play fair.

 

(Maybe a Role Play School wouldn't be such a bad idea... A role play for beginners that can learn the basics of RPing?)

Yeah a simple story one mod can follow and help everyone get into the mood of RP in a forum.

 

BTW ~StarChaser~ if this is going to happen can there be a dragon on the Pony Side?? Not a gargantual adult dragon like in the show but a "younger" smaller one

Yeah, sounds good. would they be like Spike or like the teenager dragons from the "Dragon Quest" episode?

If this gets rolling, I'd love to play on the Gryphon side. :3

 

Although considering what you stated for the reason of the war, I would probably try to play a Gryphon who figures out what is going on and tries to stop the false "King."

 

Also like stated above, so we don't have a bunch of god-modding munchkinizers out there, we either would all have to AGREE not to just say we kill other characters or the like willy-nilly. There ought to be planned out deaths of characters agreed between players depending on what would make a good story.

 

If we don't want to take that route, we can always use a dice roller to see who gets a higher roll and thus who wins the fight (not always ending in death).

Its like mixing 2/3 those and adding an extra 1/3 of awesomeness, well kind off. But I send it to you if you want to aprove, if i get the artwork in time.
