Tales of a Millennium - Fanfic Project

Introduction

For the time that I have been a follower of MLP I have been amused of how colorful and rich the world of Equestria is, from real life environments to dream like scenarios the staff behind the show / comics / all stuff have achieved to create a world in my mind that can be the home of an unlimited number of legends, stories and tales.

I have been day dreaming about the dragons and their greed, the unicorns and their magic, the phoenix and their rebirths all of those things that live in Equestria, and now I just cant stop. So I will take action.

I understand the main story line in MLP: FIM will probably never explore 90% of the stuff the show displays, in terms of  "potential"  By this I mean that we maybe never now what happened during those 1000 years of Luna's imprisonment those kind of events that defined the way Equestria is now a days. That's natural, that's not purpose of the show, but with such a big blank canvas in front of us and such a rich color palette on our hands there is something to be made.

After being in touch with the brony and MLP fan comunity, watching the Ballad of the brony doc. and all that stuff. I've been surfing the forums in a way feeding of the work from some of you guys here on MLPforums so I have come to the idea of bringing an effort that will expand the world of equestria.<br />

The Project

The idea is to create little tales and stories of the legends that roams the ponys dreams and nightmares. Those places that no one has ever stand on but everyone knows how they look like, those creatures that no one has ever seen but everypony fears, those treasures that no one has ever obtained but are desired by all.<br />

With this the world where everypony lives and dreams will become vaster, this places, characters, events and whatever you like will come toogether to create a more rich and colorfull world, that maybe will come up with stuff some other fans can use to create some other stories and... well you get the idea.

I have never been a fanfic guy I respect a lot the work of those who create stuff that makes me dream so I dont think this will get close to the real MLP FIM time line or characters. This will just try to create the legends Twilight reads on her books and Apple Jack use to scare the CMC's.

I'll try to keep a constant feed on my side but if anypony out there has an idea of something like this feel free to share.

Hey, I'd like in on this gambit. I don't have a project at the moment that would work for this, but I can toss some ideas around and start writing something by next week.

 

So basically we're writing stories/legends/etc that would fit in the canon universe? Like, you could find these fics on a library bookshelf in Canterlot?

Thats the precise idea Kolth to create a more rich world from the land of MLP. There is no time limit, Im up to the neck with work and stuff but will be trying to bring new tales.

It will be awesome if you bring some dreams to the mix ill be looking forward to rear

When I wrote my first fanfic I had a kind of similar idea; creating a villain whose powers and origins are too dark for the show but would still theoretically act as if he's in the canon universe. Although this is using only strictly canon material, just exploring stories that the show itself would never explore?...

 

Anyway, sounds awesome. I wouldn't be super interested in participating because at the moment I'm working on a pretty big fanfic project centered around the 'Elements of Disharmony'.

Also this project is not time limited it will be open for a while (I hope) so you can drop by any time if the lighting of inspiration hits you. Also please tell me when Elements of Disharmony is ready to share an eye

I'm working on a fanfic that is based on Band of Brothers, but it is a story told by Twilight to her granddaughter not a story that was around before twilights time im wondering if you would still like it. it also might not be that short. I have the intro and most of the first chapter done if you would like to see it.

INTRO

I still remember the war. Not many do. A few of the Ponies that were born after it say that it is just a foal’s tale, but it was real, I was there.

Every now and then my son Ramble comes to visit me. He’s a good boy but he is busy so he doesn’t spend much time here, unless he brings his daughter. Her name is Dawn Glimmer and she is only about 10 years old, but every time she comes she sits down at the foot of my rocking chair and asks, “Grandma Twilight what was the war like?”

So every time I have Spike start a good fire and make me some tea. Then I tell the same story again but she doesn’t mind because she is lost in aw every time. So I start were any one would start. In the Beginning.

Discord had taken over as chancellor of Gerpony but no one here in Equestria seemed to mind they were a full ocean away from us and nopony wanted to go to war again. Even after he took over Pwnland and the Buck Republic the only people that did anything were the cheese eating surrender ponies from Prance and they didn’t last very long. Then the good Ol’ chaps from Kingland joined in but Discord started to beat the hay out of them in their land so they were locked down. Equestria did do a little to help the Kinglish but there wasn’t much we could do without getting involved in the war ourselves.

Then the Day of Infopony happened. Discord had sided with the changelings, so we cut off all supplies that we had been giving to the changelings. That pissed of Empress Chrysalis something fierce. So one day out of nowhere the changelings hit Cloudsdale in a sneak attack.

This woke Equestria up in a hurry. That is when we started getting ready for war. We started building air balloons, boats, and tanks. Ponies started to get drafted in the Solar Military.

This is where I come in. One day a Soldier from the royal guard showed up in Ponyville. He started asking questions like, “Who wants to join the navy, the Pegasus air guard, and the infantry.”

Most had raised their hooves before his final question. “Who wants to join the Mareborn?”

No one know what this was so he explained that it was a group of ponies that would jump out of air balloons, slowly fall to the ground, land behind the enemy and engage them from the rear. (a few times I had to mention to my granddaughter that that was not what she said.) A few hooves raised I was one of them.

 

 

Its not much but I intend to round out this chapter with an introduction to the other main characters. then i will proceed to tell world war 2 from the perspective of MLP paratroopers

I loved the word games for the countries and places you took, also the Solar Military sounds tough and mighty kudos for that. I would love to read more as you progress keep it going
