Understanding? Personally, I'd be concerned that that would overlap with Kindness. The two do have rather a lot in common, while Determination and Loyalty... Eh, you can be one or the other. But usually kind people are understanding. Catch my drift?

 

Uhhh... Rarity was originally supposed to be Innovation, or Inspiration or something of that sort, but the producers changed it, thinking that it would be too complicated a concept for the target audience. Why not one of them?

I quoted this from a thread on another forum I found with Google...

 

In one of the Lauren Faust interviews from Bronycon she said that Rarity was initially to be this but it was too tricky to work into the script.

 

I find it a cool idea but I just find the concept of "inspiration" to be too ethereal. It's as if she was a muse or something. 

 

Also, just the tile of "spirit of the element of inspiration" seems too powerful. It's like the spirit of ideas and that seems like far too much credit for one pony to have. Not only that but it's not specific enough to her - tons of pony think up things. At least with generosity she can definitely have her moments.

 

And again, from the Wiki:

 

 Rarity was originally the "Element of Inspiration", but this was considered "too tough for kids to wrap their heads around."

That works. That works all fine and dandy and perfect and fluffy-like. Again, there would be a decent amount of overlap, but I don't think it would be that bad. We just gotta make sure the character is almost too courageous, maybe lacking in common sense.

Let's try and get the courageous bloke to be headstrong, and somewhat lacking in common sense; I could totally see the Element of Courage rushing headfirst into dangerous situations and not thinking things through. Also, this element would likely be easily manipulated.

Even though she was originally Tree Fluttershy, I think Rose Petal might fit better as the Element of Determination than as Kindness. And I'm not sure I want to play two at the moment. Although it would give me the chance to create a pegasus character.

I'm as patient as a tree. Not a Fluttershy tree, but a Rose Petal tree. Anyway, I'm not feeling very inventive at the moment, and if I can help it I prefer using only one character anyway. I totally would start creating a character, just because I need a pegasus, but I'm taking an online test right now to turn in tomorrow at midnight.

Well, I could always swap out for kindness, Rose would qualify as loyal, too, but that might also be a bit of a stretch for Shade...
